Jake King

Re: Jake King (Merged)

I'm sorry but this is a complete joke. Jake gets a week for a push & shove with Ash McGrath & Franklin gets a week for letting his elbow stray out & hits a bloke in the head who was being tackled & couldn't raise his hands to defend himself. I swear - if Franklin appeals he will get off.....Jake will get another month if he appeals.........

Surely, SURELY - there has to be a $#%#$#$ explanation why Edwards was felled off the ball &....nothing................................ The Edwards incident was of sufficient force to knock him down.......pretty sure Ash McGrath wasn't fazed.......

None of this makes sense ? Or am I the stupid one here ???

This is a disgrace - & yep - I find it hard to contemplate a trivial incident like this is the same penalty as the fair old swing that Daisy Thomas had on Clinton Jones. Had he made better contact - Jones would have had a sleep for a quarter or so.

Contact between the Brisbane Lions’ Jack Redden and Richmond’s Shane Edwards from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Contact was made to the upper arm and chest area, while the force was deemed below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Laughable!

So did the MRP give any insight into why a 50m penalty was paid against us for this incident.... was Edwards staging!?!?

Not their jurisdiction. That would be the Umpire Review Panel. It is a secret panel that rarely provides information to the public about the performance of the umpires.

Seriously, I'm not that fussed that Redden didn't warrant a suspension for his contact but for the umpire to pay a down the field free to Redden is total incompetence. Then again, that was only one of a few shockers on the night.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Well I hope Redden goes in Richmonds 'book'. I noticed his nose looked unnaturally full of vaseline and bent to one side. Shame. His bump on Rance was marginal too. Did we even get a free kick down field for that?

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Is there some way we can make our voices heard over this?

I know that sounds a little embarrassing and childish, but seriously there are dozens of instances EVERY WEEK where players do the exact same thing King did.

Makes me want to boycott AFL football, seriously. I hope Richmond challenge no matter what the consequences, its just not right.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Heard about this on the way home, and it's really annoyed me, more than usually. Dunno if it's because it's so pathetic a charge, because we've got such an important game coming up, or because King and others were reacting to Lions provocation. I'm past just shrugging my shoulders on this one.

The thing is, there's no grounds to challenge the charge. The offence probably ticks all the boxes for the suspension. The fact that actions like Kings are generally ignored is conveniently not relevant gven the lack of use of precedence by the MRP. The AFL really has stitched this up tight.

The only thing to do I guess is write to the club and the AFL, although it'll have next to no effect.

Must appeal this.

Agree, especially since I'm pretty confident that it was Vickery who opened up McGrath.

I hope I'm talking about the correct incident. I'm making the assumption that this was a consequence of McGrath having to leave the ground just after play started.

Jake was wrestling McGrath and Tyrone jumped into the fray and delivered two ripper jumper punches high on McGrath.

I reckon they've pinned the blame on the wrong player.....

I didn't think it was King either, although I didn't see who it was. Actually thought it might have been friendly fire at the time. Will have to have another look.

4 matches in the last 3 years.....YEARS not months!!! is called a 'poor' record??

This assessment is more complex and twisted than the Australian Taxation system.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

so what happened i just watched the video on the afl site and it looked like nothing.... at most wrestling or something similar not striking!...the MRP are soft if he gets a week for that! we should contest it will not cost us anything(as in weeks for king)...

After rewatching the Foxtel coverage it was definitely striking, and probably a fair enough cop :-X.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Hope White can come up to cover Kingy if he gets rubbed out, otherwise Nason. But that's to keep our structures intact. They could bring in a different kind of player like Batchelor for 'Push ups.'

Would have been better if King just kicked him in the nads. Would not have been outed.

Na not really...heard Brereton on the sunday footy show saying that the AFL admitting they made a mistake in regards to J Waite's back kick to Mcguanne's groin :-[.... so no doubt if Kingy had tried something simular he would of got 10 weeks.

Agree that he's been down on form a little. White the obvious replacement.

White is out for the season and will be back in 2015, just ask Mark Coughlan!
Injured his knee in the 2nds! Left the ground and didn't return!
