Jake King

Re: Jake King (Merged)

That sucks. We really could have used him against Margarine FC this week.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

With the way the game is going soon AFL will be a non-contact sport. It's sad they now hand out weeks for a couple of soft jumper punches between players. Or is it only because his name is J.King? Soft.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

maybe we can call it touch afl soon. at least we no what we are watching. afl is losing lots of support. im nowhere near into it as much as I am. Perhaps nthe gate turnover will tell these highrollers what they think isnt what everyone thinks.

destroying a great game
wankers

Re: Jake King (Merged)

the things players get rubbed out for these days borders on mind boggling relative to the things that players DONT get rubbed out for!!! WTF is the tribunal on!

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Head high and behind the ball contact is definitely something the game can do without, however the rest is part and parcle of Aussie Rules. Give him a fine and get on with it. Absolute joke. With white out also - Helbig looks a likely replacement.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

The MRP must be instructed to knock everything back. There was nothing in that, image missing a final because of that? Don't bump, don't tackle, don't touch your opponent , the AFL have single handly have turned footy into afl ballet!

Re: Jake King (Merged)

as everyone is saying, if he didnt draw blood this would be a non issue which means the tribunal works backwards from the result to the act. a big load of hot steamy mind boggling bullcrap!

Re: Jake King (Merged)

I'm disappointed that jakey's out. But i'm more disappointed that the punch that left him temporarily blinded in one eye wasn't even cited. What the....? ???

Good point and the fact that Edwards gets felled behind play and the perpetrator isn't even cited.
MRP = Muppets Ruining Performance

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Yeah Jake King got a week. 1 week was right. He did make contact to the head, 60 meters away from the ball.
I do not think it matters at this time in our development, if he plays or not.
Good time to give another young kid a go in that forward roll.
Supporters now are expecting us to win every week.
I say continue to develope more players on our list.

Thanks B2

Agree. Same with sling tackles. If the damage is perceived to be worse then the contact is deemed stronger regardless of whether the action looks exactly the same.

In King's case, McGrath admits to being the aggressor and they engage in a jumper wrestle. McGrath says it wasn't deliberate contact. I'd argue it wasn't reckless or negligent. But they don't have an accidental contact catergory do they?

Maybe I'm wrong but just because a player bleeds from the head, does there have to be a suspension? Would there even be a report if McGrath had been opened up on his arm? He would have been incapacitated in the same way.

With no conclusive vision, how do they determine reckless from the evidence? Baffling. But as I've said before the tribunal /MRP is a lottery.

Could not agree more.

For someone with a legal background, Adrian Anderson has a warped sense of justice. The AFL fought tooth and nail to deny the players' request that precedents be admissible as evidence at the tribunal. In that case, King could simply have pointed to the "insufficient force" ruling re Judd/Pavlich, and walked. If the MRP/tribunal were consistent and didn't arrive at such perverted decisions every so often, there would be nothing to fear.

Anyway, to be expected. Just guarantees that, after five weeks off and with this latest travesty of officialdom providing extra barracking fuel, I'll be in full booming voice for Saturday. Look out umpires and Melbourne!  :veryupset

Re: Jake King (Merged)

there was no strike. a push and shove, blood lip, someone called jake king involved (serial pest) and that's all you need to suspend someone. watched the vision a few times and there is no strike by king.
