Jake King

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Meh.

Jake King is a valued part of our developing team because he plays the way he does.

Dermott never said sorry for anything he did. Neither did Old Shady Sheedy.

Don't change for anybody or anything, Kingy!

Exactly! No backward steps Kingy.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Jake is struggling just as much as anyone at the moment. Being well held and is not impacting games like he was earlier in the season.
Perhaps we should be looking to trade him whilst he has some currency.

With a heavy heart but I totally agree old Tiger. Just the kind of player Sheedy luvs and GWS might need.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Opposition has woken up to him getting between his opponent and the goals. Not as effective up the ground. How many times can you re-invent a player?

The problem for Jake is that he's very limited as a player.
Can't play back and not a midfielder.
He's kicked 1 goal in the past 4 weeks and his forward pressure has been less evident.
Done better since being reinvented as a small forward but at 27 he is squarely in the gun and if we can trade him to someone like GWS I think we should.

I disagree. King wins most one on ones we simply haven't used him properly. Thought he was OK last night. I actually wouldn't mind seeing him get a stint on the ball.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Kingy aint the problem. He is limited but he adds something to the side. Alot more he adds than about 10 other guys atm in the side. He is aggressive and does some team things which help the side.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Depends what we could get for him ToO

I personally love the intangible aspects he brings to the team, those can't be taught, BUT, anyone who thinks he is untradable would have to be joking.

If GWS or GC offered a decent proposal you have to jump at it, at 27 we know exactly what to expect from Jakey and what his limitations are.

Only untradable players we have at this exact moment in time are Cotchin, Jack, Dusty and Vickery (and ofcourse any rooks or players like Griff who haven't had enough playing time to make a call on yet)

Anyone else ............. definetely worth listening to any and all offers.

( Doesn't mean I don't love Jake's attitude and zest for the jumper whatsoever, big heart )

This is the thing. I think Jake has currency right now which is why I'd explore his worth. It's not to say he's a dud or he'd be delisted.
Can we live without him given where we are placed? Too right we can if it helps land us a player in an area we require desperately.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Could be missing for a couple of weeks if Robbo on Game Day has anything to do with it. Couldn't help himself talking to Push Up today and basically said he should get weeks for what he did ... Robbo's still smarting from the Bombers being beaten by Tigers last time ...

Agree with that. We get smashed in the centre so you think he would at least be worth a try.

Anyone think they might put Riewoldt up for pushing Hurley into a marking contest? Chance for GC to win a game, and they need to even things up with Ablett missing.

He hasnt been doing much of late anyways. If he goes then put Post up there and see if he can do something. The talk of getting rid of King is just ridiculous.

Definately. Cant really fault his game last night apart from a missed goal. Its oh so easy for the knives to come back out for old jakey. I will never forget the crap he copped.

No no no no no ..... your totally overestimating his willingness with a false sense of capabilities now ..... isn't a clearance type whatsoever even though he loves to go hard, 2 totally different things, leave him right where he is, thats his caper and best use to the team these days.

Cotchin aside we don't have any clearance type players.
