Been okay this year but has done nothing for close to 5-6 weeks (2 goals in last 5 games). Looks like the opposition has worked his game out and has no plan B as he's pretty limited.

Will stick around most likely but we need to find some better quality small forwards.

I would trade him if there's any offers. Likely there won't be unfortunately.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Jake has had a good start to the season but with all due respect he's not long term quality AFL standard of consistency and ability. He's typical of us persisting with b graders.

Nason, Graham, Browne, Hislop, Mcguane, Gourdis, Jackson, Edwards, Thursfield, Farmer just out of the 2011 alumni but we've always had far too many for far too long.

Your been very generous, B graders more like D graders
players like Edwards, King, Jackson, White, Nahas & King are exactly the same type of players we hard 10 years ago that always had certain playing limits. They're the clone of so many that have past the club in the past.
Robbie Powell, trent nicholls, chris sullivan, Ben Hollands, Ezra poyas, clay Sampson, etc

Chris Sullivan. Never forget the bagging that guy copped from me when he played in a game against West Coast at the MCG in either 96 or 97 and we lost. Took a train from Adleaide to see that game, was very disappointing.

Can't remember the game, but Sullivan is a clone of Nahas

2 goals in his last six games.

Might be time to reinvent him again..

As a Coburg player?

Maybe we could trade him - his currency will never be higher than it is right now.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Goals are not the only thing that is King's responsibility as a defensive forward. His role is to kick the opportunistic goals when they arise (not many in recent weeks for the Tigers!) and also to nullify his running half back opponent. Early in the season he was kicking goals from 'over the back' and close to goal opportunities (ie. most of his goals are within 26 metres or very close to goal line) but our inside 50s are considerable down and opponents are not letting him run behind the pack any more.

Cannot say I have noticed how his opponents have performed in recent weeks ... maybe a good thing. Anyone notice how succesful his 'defensive' output has been?

Re: Jake King (Merged)

We're getting smashed in the midfield and our back line is leaking goals.

Ball is not coming into our forward line with any system.

Starvation corner in Richmonds forward line atm.

Bigger concerns than Jake at the moment.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

I'd have to disagree one-eyed. King has been one of our worst performers over the last 6 weeks. You can't just put together half a decent season and expect a new contract. Surely?

Any trades offers I'd take instantly.

Might be GWS's version of a lesser Cambell Brown maybe??

Not worth a 1st rounder compo pick but could probably be packaged with something else for one of the 17 year olds they have the ability to trade to other clubs.

Easy money Richmond, no wonder we at 92% of the salary cap. Rewarding footballers for performing in half a dozen games.
Again the easy games comes up. His early form was good, but more then 4 weeks of poor form should result into a spell in the 2nds. But currently 2 good games gets you a contract extension..

Personally I'd always thought that King was flying under the radar a bit for opposition teams early on. Once they worked him out, he's been alot easier to stop. I don't think Kingy has a lot to offer and to make it he needs everything to go our away. He's another that we need to look at replacing if we are to become a serious finals contender.

Saying that, all credit to King for making the most of what he has.

Yep. Even the most obviously deficient players can survive off the back of one brief purple patch for years on end at Punt Road, particularly in the eyes of some of our more delusional fans.

Reckon if Marty McGrath hadn't *smile*ed up, he would've been here a good 5 years, 1 for each goal in that first game.

King looks ok on our list hence he gets a game with us but don't think he'd be in many of the good sides best 22.

Trade if possible.

He wouldn't even be on a list,
