:hihi Great post Bipolar.

You missed the bit about when he called him an 'ordinary player', but I missed the bit about him having a heart and sacrifing his career. :rofl

I won't question King's intentions, but is execution was shocking, a bit like his game really.

Also agree that at the end of the day it was Newman who allowed King to come with him to front Wallace. That's another indication of Newman's lack of judgement in this whole affair.

King is a dud.

His alleged participation in this weeks drama as a very ordinary fringe player is absolutely hilarious.

What was this bloke thinking.

Think ol Kingys career has just dropped dead which is no loss anyways.

Some here would of made him captain after one game :hihi

All aboard the Jake King bandwagon.......choooo.......chooooo......bloody flowersniffers...... ;D :hihi

Good call that one.

Alot of forums felt he was just what we needed. pffffft

King may be a dud as an AFL player but the fact that Newy piked to take him along shows that leadership at our club is pathetic.
I luv richo to death but he is not a natural leader...we have no-one to show the Lids, Cotchs, Jack's etc the way.

Sadly I think Cuz is the best we have and his influence in a leadership role is proving more very valuable./

Give this guy a cuddle and then tell him to *smile* off. That sort of crap doesnt need to exist within our football club. Bring in a Neale Balme, who can start swinging on and off the field.

he is one of the leaders of the 18 years to 24 year old brigade and was representing them as a couple of the youngens are not happy either.
how does a 25 yr old fit into that group.

I tell you what people are quick with the Wikipedia updates

During the week following round 7 2009, Jake is believed to have been one of a group of players inlcuding Kane Johnson and Chris Newman to have asked Terry Wallace to step down as Richmond coach. This came as quite a shock to most of the public seeing that King isnt a regular senior player.

I hear you mate, but i am also in kinda a bind here.

What bothers me is that certain individuals think its ok to question a blokes intentions just because he cant kick for sh!t (yeah i am his president and i know he cant kick well). The guy has probably sacrificed his career as an afl player to try and get some change at the club he loves. I dont see the same level of malice directed at Newman?

People are just assuming because Jake is a tryer at best that it was his masterplan... I mean seriously that is the most ridiculous thing i have heard.

it dosen't matter who good a player you are, no player has the right to even think they can ask the coach to quit. That is why Newman should be stood down immediatly, At very least the new coach should appoint a new captain. I hpwever also think Kane Johnson and Troy Simmonds have more to answer for than both of them.

The problem we've all got is " we do not know exactly who said what to whom and when". None of us outside the players, the coach and perhaps the President know exactly what's been said.

All the above is pure speculation. King could have gone with Newman to discuss tic tac toe with Wallace for all we know. He could have gone to ask Wallace directly why he's not selected or some other reason, we don't know.

All this speculation is just that pure speculation, spurred on by a bunch of media wankers out to get the story of the year for themselves via causing all sorts of problems for PR.

Newman as a Captain has not done much on the field, his "relax" statement off the field will hurt him and this week certainly has hurt him, its his first year as Captain and the first 9 weeks of the season for him have been pure hell. The Captain is not there to defend the coach, he's there to marshall the players and focus them on the game at hand.

Johnson, was the previous skipper, Newman has obviously asked him for some advice after the spray MM copped last Sunday. Johnson gave that advice, how Newman then acted on it and why he brought King with him is right now anyone's guess.

Simmond's again, Newman must have asked for some advice there and again what Troy told him is anyone's guess.

The Club President and TW are not saying boo, if they did it would just give the media more to feed on and put even more pressure on the club. Newman today has said nothing and good for him, let the media suck egg's, after all they flew to all sorts of conclusions on Monday and Tuesday, if one player or club official says something now the media will no doubt interpret it the way they want, in order to sell more papers and advertising space.

Its time to back off on this issue. If the true story comes out and I for one don't think it will until next year if we are lucky, then and only then will we know what the hell happened.

Right now, I just want the Coaches and Players to focus on the game at hand. Maybe I'm asking a bit too much but I don't think so.

The Sunday Age is reporting that King is comtemplating legal action over the past weeks event's...........nice, that should keep the Circus going for a little longer, nice work.

Jake is a professional plumber in the real world, he's one of the very few people in the AFL who will earn more money outside football than in it.
