Was really impressed with Jay against the dorks. Seemed to relish being in charge of the backline with gaspar and kellaway out and will be the type of player who can be thrown onto the forward line at times.

He is heading into that zone when a player has about 30 senior games. It is when they start to feel that they are a part of it all. Hopefully, a good year coming up.

He's served a recent apprenticeship & its time he stepped up.Has really only played a couple of good AFL games despite showing some promise.

Gee, I wish many of you could have had an open mind about this before last weekends game.

AFL footy is full of players that end up playing in different positions to what they play in junior footy.

The next one will be Patto. He looks alot more comfortable running in a straight line at the footy. Reckon Patto may end up a tall defender. Similar to Ray Hall, a good workman-like mobile tall defender.

i hope you are right about patto phantom.

Looks very overawed at this stage.

sluggish, can't kick, and struggles to get into the play. Alot of improvement to do to make the grade!

Agree. Pattison will struggle at CHF for a long time to come. Hall will find himself in the forward line very soon if Schulz can do a job on the back-line for a year or two. Pattison is worth a try down there also.

There is nothing to lose and a heap to gain by trying young players down back for a while.

As another example, if one or two of Raines, Roach, Hartigan and White succeed as small defenders as well we will solve most of our defensive worries.

HELLO!! HELLLOOOOO!! 20 years of age, ...only 10 and a bit months older than Patto,.... broken ankle last year. apart from a quiet game against Melbourne last year (join the queue) never let us down . Thrashed Franklin rd 21 until speared in the sternum and then won the game for us at FF (gutsy effort top just get back) in the last with his attack on the ball and quick hands. Easily in best 5 in rd 22 against geelong and on Saturday. Kicked 6 against Michael in a full game with style and finesse in 2004. Rarely played a full game before or since that game until rd 22 last year!!!!. This myth making about Schulz and his many chances is as most myths a load of cr@p.

One of the best kicks, marks and decision makers at the club, composed tough as nails and very good at the 1%ers. One of the few potential match winners we have at the tiges!

Leave the kid alone and let him get some real game time then pass comment. Up till now mostly static and wind being passed by the arm chair critics

Ah finally, someone else suggesting this, was saying it all last year to deathly silence. He should be playing CHB at Coburg this season.

Doesn't his pace and turning circle worry you about him playing at CHB rEVOlt? To me he wouldn't be able to keep up with the faster CHF's in the league and would get towelled because of that. At least in the forward line he makes the play himself rather than trying to keep up with someone else. He may end up being a Stafford type who can only play in the ruck and then rest in a Forward Pocket.

I think his mobility is fine for his size.Certainly no worse than say Lewis Roberts Thompson.I'm talking about playing him at Coburg incidently, not the AFL.Longer term I think he's more likely to be a ruckman/forward too, like Simmonds, but currently he seems to be getting lost on a footy field.

Schulzy rightly should be looked at as a key player, christ the club rates the d u d s who have long been proven to lack talent and ability which Jay has.

Keep up the good work Jay and become the player that is possible for you to become.

He wont realise the potential he has until the club finally play him in his correct position and that is up forward. He is a KP forward not a backman and even if he does get a go up forward it will take him a while to work the forward play out with the likes of Richo. These things dont happen overnight so lets just get serious now and start playing him where he belongs so he can start learning now and not just throw him up forward willy nilly. Bloody ridiculous and a waste of a career. >:(

This is a real tough one. Jay's career to date has yielded one of the lowest disposal rates going around for an AFL player. I'm glad the club has at the least decided to play him - there were no guarantees of that in TW's regime. I've always said that failed CHF's often make decent CHB's, so I would say the club has decided he aint going to make it is as key forward. As much as I would rather him become a key forward (god knows we need one) if he holds down CHB for the next 10 years I wont complain.

He is not a Backman - simple. What bloody chance has he had to play up forward - bugger all. Play him at either CHF or FF for a entire season instead of this willy nilly stuff of back and very occassional forward. A total waste of time and will kill his career off quickly until we let him go and he gets a go at another club where when given the chance will be effective up forward.
