yeah you could be right home grown and they will give up one of those early picks for him.
i still have an inkiling that carlton are going to play or deelop kruezer as a forward if this happens hampson and warnock could form the ruck combination.
dunno what will happen with cloke unlike most on here i liked him as a junior i still think he could develop into a kpp.was good this yr plying in the ruck.

In the second half of the year when Cloke pushed forward he took some very good contested marks. I think he might be used in the third tall position once Kreuzer is rucking with Warnock. Cloke will do alot of the hard yards for the more 'glamorous' tall forward/rucks at Carlton. I agree, I don't think he is the complete hack people make him out to be.
Second hand info is that GC are already eyeing him (Hampson) off.

Yep. Shocking. Out rookie list seems not to tie in with our recruiting strategy.
lets see this is what should happen. collard retained. 3 rookie delistings with 5 to come back on. would definately put polak on the rookie ltil and free up a draft pick.. that leaves 4 spots. 3 spots must go to talls and i would be prepared to take a hislop jackson type with the last spot.
imo hislop would be worth chasing with pick 58 but i reckon he will be gone before then. it would be intersesting to find out what happened with him and essenone.

sheesh i hate second hand info. i wonder what strategy we could come up with to aquire him.

I know, I wouldn't normally put this stuff out there....but the mate who told me was having this convo with a bloke who had come back to finalise re-location as he is at the GC for at least the next 2 years in an official capacity.

thanks anyway i wonder how long it weill take gc to become a power. not long i dont think.about the length of time it takes for a quality bunch of kids to mature.

I think that the GC's approach to drafting in the initial years will depend on how the new club is being received in the area. If people are jumping out of their skin & pledging their hard earned & loyalty they will take the football approach & trade a minimum amount of their picks for AFL ready players & take kids with an eye for sucess in the future. If they are not attracting any interest I think they may trade more picks for 'ready' players to be competitive from day one to have fickle Coasters at least consider a day at the footy.
I think the reason the AFL has loaded them up with such generous draft picks is so that either option is available depending on how things pan out. All kids or a mixture, they have the picks to do it.

regardless of what supporters think i know what path id take. i reckon i know the afl will prop them up regerdless of support in the early stages.

I also would prefer to maximise the draft picks with juniors, however I think they'll need to trade some picks for senior players as a team that gets flogged week in, week out for 3 or 4 years isn't going to get the locals flocking to the games regularly.
They don't get crowds on the GC now when AFL is there 2-3 times a year, they didn't get crowds when the Bears were there. I think it is going to be a long haul to get the GC17 team into the hearts of Gold Coasters. The AFL won't want them playing to crowds of 5000, so I'll reckon they'll trade some picks for mature players.
It'll be interesting at trade time in 2 years.
