It's a shame Jeremy is only on our rookie list and his chances of elevation reply on misfortune to another player, assuming we had the $$ to elevate him if anyone suffered a long term injury anyway.

I reckon a player like Jeremy would keep the list honest. We need ready made options to step in if anyone isn't carrying their weight in the seniors. A luxury we haven't really had in recent seasons.

I hope we don't have any long term injuries so have a blinder of a season at Coburg Jeremy and force the club's hand to elevate you next season.

You're spot on Rosy. To be quite honest, if someone said to me we'll swap Matt White and Humm over for roach and jackson on the rookie list i'd take it and run. Sadly, roachy and jackon wont last much longer. Not AFL standarf IMO. I was sitting in front of Tommy's dad on the level 3 wing on sat and he didnt look overly excited with young thommy.

Andrew Raines Im excited about. I think he'll be a fine player.

Very impressed with his disposal. Probably is a better disposer of the ball than nearly everyone down at Tigerland. But, he clearly likes playing in the open spaces. Didn't seem to be a big runner either.

Reckon a part-time winger is his position.

I'm sure there'll be a long term injury sometime, although I don't wish it on anyone. There always is, though.

Time is certainly running out for Jackson.Like the kid but im having doubts weather he will make it.Not sure its totally his own fault though. The coaching staff have to embark a spot for him and go for it.ATM i dont think the poor kid knows exactly what his role is.

Yep , a player like him who hasn't the foty smarts of others needs to be played in a position where it is easier
to get into the game. ie of the half back line...Another option would be to start using him as a tagger where he
can be led into the play and hopefully over time learn fromthe players he plays on...

All this kid needs is experience and confidence.  I hope he is given a major role at Coburg and left there for a big part of the season.  He is not the sort of player who can be fast-tracked.  He needs to learn the game.  The benefit of patience is that in a year or two we will have a very competitive player who will support Tuck and Coughlan in the midfield.  He is still very young.

Humm will get his chance and will probably take it too. Disposal is good and he looks like a solid citizen. The more competition for places the better. Humm would be well served if he makes sure that he dominates in the midfield for Coburg for the first half of the season. The selectors will not ignore him if this happens.

Look, to me, Jackson's biggest problem, and it's been the same one all along, is that he can't seem to get enough of the pill in his hands. Right build, good speed, just can't get enough of the pill in his hands.

You can't teach a kid that. They've either got it, or not. And you don't have to play alot of footy to have it.

Goes to show, you don't go recruiting players unless they've proven themselves in the best junior competitions around Australia. As I recall, both Jackson and Roach played less than a handful of games for Oakleigh in 2003. Neither did anything worthy of drafting.

Fortunately Greg has learnt his lesson since. Although he still sometimes makes mistakes.
Don't we all?

As for Humm, good disposer, doesn't get much of the pill either, and likes it big on the outside.

TOT do you mean Humm, Jacko or Whitey?

Sorry, Rosy.  Got distracted by work.  I meant Jacko for the first bit, then Humm.  White is a very exciting talent and will be playing reguler seniors in no time.

Does that clarify my thoughts?

I thought Humm did ok. Still dunno whether he's gonna be a long term proposition or not, but he played ok on Saturday. Petered out of the game a bit towards the end, but up until then he grabbed a few posessions, didn't make any excruciating mistakes like a lot of his team mates did, and he seemed to be able to read the play pretty well and get into good position.

Thanks for all the positives about Humm, from his President. :)

For his first real match with the Tigers, I thought he acquitted himself quite well, looked composed. I hope he has a blinder of a year at Coburg, then gets promoted next year. I also would rather not see it happen this year, as that would only be through a long term injury.

To pick up a rookie who has 22 games under his belt with West Coast is a bonus for RFC.

Have a great year Jeremy!
