Hyde clashed heads with a teammate in the warm-up and started on the bench, Bowden taking his place on the field.

Looks like Bowden was to start on the bench anyway, wonder why ?

That would be Patrick, who was named on the bench ;)

:-[ oops.... how silly am I.... better not answer that one folks!

agree, Bowden has been off the first two rounds. Disappointing.

But, I also reckon TW is using him wrong....IMO Joel has played his best footy when he is given a role taking on a good forward, BUT not someone who is an A grade key forward.

When Joel is asked to play loose or zoning off, opposition teams get to dictate to him and they either play thorugh his man or can tag him/match him up as they wish. But when Joel plays on a good player he has been able to do a good defesive job and run off on his own terms.

On the other hand, playing him on Fev and Barry Hall's of this world is a waste of his talent really because he is too pre-occupied to run off.

The ideal kind of match-ups for Joel are either 3rd talls, or Brad Johnson, O'Loughlin types. For instance, his best game last year was on Brad Johnson. He killed him.

Like Johnson where is this guy's head at ATM?

These guys are supposed to be our leaders.

Joel's looking a shadow of the player he has been the last three seasons.
His body language is poor and he looks slow and often disinterested.

Something's amiss and I can't pin it down but I am worried.

Is he sick of footy or what? :-\

It doen't help that he is being played it a position that just doesn't suit him.

I think this is the crux of it.

Joel's natural gamre is to attack but our pathetic recruitment to suitably cover the fullback position has forced Wallace's hand to play Joel as the negator.

Joel just doesn't seem to be enjoying himself at the moment. It's a massive concern of mine to be brutally honest.

He has had a life style change too with a new baby, starting a restaurant and he is very active in his charity work. Maybe all of this is wearing him a bit thin.

Let the bowden run free
I agree
wallace has destroyed his confidence making him line up against the best forward every week. He isn't suited to that role IMO ,he needs to be a sweeper not a spoiler.
