Johnson's broken hand (merged)

SHould Kane Johnson play with a broken hand?

Just read the article stating that Kane will play with a broken hand. Interested to know who thinks he should and shouldn't. Personally I just don't see the merit in doing so. I would have thought psychologically it would affect your ability to play hard footy. Also presents a good opportunity to try some of the youngsters in the pivotal central role.

On the side, hope Johnson's comments werent mis-quoted when he said 'Im not sure theyre that advanced on what our midfields been' when discussing West Coast's midfield. He must mean our version of Chris Judd and Daniel Kerr.

Re: SHould Kane Johnson play with a broken hand?

On that last statement I think he must have some type of head injury as well so he really shouldn't play.

Re: SHould Kane Johnson play with a broken hand?

No, based on his lack of form its definitely affected him so he's really not doing the right thing by the team.

Only if it's affecting his performance.
He's finding it but he's dropping marks & not hitting targets.........So no.
I agree dropping marks cannot generally be aforded these days adn a broken hand is not likened ot taking any type of mark.

geez yad feel real good if you were a guy like danny meyer wouldnt you? i mean fair dinkum if a guy can play basicly 1 handed through the game when other guys are around who have 2 hands and are able to kick as well as anyone in the team, what does that say about your chances of making it? to play a guy with an injury is a disgrace. sit him out for 4 to 6 weeks so he recovers and give a kid a go. what are we achieving from this? bugger it. its time to start resting guys who arent fit, if we live on the excuse hes not playing well coz of an injury, its pathetic. theres a whole reserves side with a midfield who keep smashing opponents, why dont they get a look in?

if the guy with the injury was getting 35 kicks a game and killing the opposition then it may be a different story, a second game player could do what he does with that ammount of game time, what are we achieving is my big question?

Its just another RFC poor old us story about our perceived or actual injuries. The guy should be rested pure and simple or RFC should at the very least keep their traps shut! I thought you were more likely to talk about yourselves when you are winning not now.

From your friendly AFL site comes this sentence re match up for Judd.
Johnson’s experience, strength and footy smarts make him the automatic selection. Funniest thing Ive read for a long time Johnson on Judd? WTF :rofl :rofl :help :rofl :rofl

Whopee do!

I've gone in to open the batting with broken fingers.

I've gone into football matches where after the final siren I've taken off my boot to see my sock soaked in blood.

Gee we're soft at Richmond!

If Johnson wants to play with a broken hand that's fine, but it should be expected.

Sheeds was best player in a Grand Final playing with a broken wrist.

Francis Bourke played out a game with his head split open.

Woopee do, Kane!

Once played on a very wet & cold day in under 9s. Had my hand kicked 'in danger'. Got a free! Only stat for the day unfortunately. I continued to play for the rest of the year and retired four seasons later.

Hand was fine.

Career goals: 2

Position: Forward pocket.

A stellar career. Is the speaking at sportsmens nights keeping you in business?

I certainly wouldn't bat with broken fingers. I suppose I could change hands and adjust my grip for a couple of balls. It really all depends if there was a maiden over.

:help

No response? Super! Why do i bother wasting my A-grade GOLD material around here on you low-brows?

THank you. I should mention that both goals were along the lines of Duncan Kellaway "floaters".

As for the sportsmens nights, I dip out on them. They are for egomaniacs anyway.

(But I am available).

Correct me if im wrong but didnt Francis Bourke play with a fractured bone in his leg at one stage during a match- i might be wrong be i just seem to faintly remember something of that sort happening.

He did pretty well on Judd last year so, ya never know.

Haven't seen the Xrays so I'm not sure about the impact of the break. They usually wire them up, don't they? Broken fingers are usually not comparable.

Although Kane has struggled for form this season, he hasn't been useless. He's playing a more attacking role and his opponent has exposed him for pace at times, well a lot of times. But he is at least some brawn around the ball and that gives Foley some cover.

The old blokes (and Sugar looks mighty old ATM) take longer to come up. We haven't played Round 5 yet. We'll see.
