Hartlett is the other ruck looking alright from that draft.

Anyways its pointless discussing could we have had him or him. There were some good players & some bad taken after our picks.

Bit shocked that you think that draft "stacks up quite well". By leysy's obs, we only get one player (who was pick 1) that can take us forward out of our first 5 picks in top 20. Happy to be proven wrong if Tambling, Meyer, Patto & Polo do but that's the way leysy see's it. As mentioned no doubt Thursfield was an excellent get, but McGuane is limited & limbach is already gawn as well.

Overrall, from the opportunities given a definate fail from leysy.

Well said Leysey here here.

That draft imo isnt looking too flash at all and ive aired this before over past 12 months.

Lids was a given they couldnt get him wrong.

Tambling ............. well we will see.......... hes gonna cop the Buddy forever like it or not and so will the club but Richie was very very highly rated going in.

McGuane limited with skill deficiency, poor footy smarts and a lack of size height and build.

Limbach ...... dud

Polo .......... struggling and not far from being delisted imo.

Meyer ....... will get another year but struggling and injury prone

Pattison .... not a ruck not a kpp dont know what this kid offers going forward to be honest. Tiges must do better than him in regard to KPP and Rucks.

Hindsight is wonderful and we'd all spend a packet on it if we could buy it however overall the draft on which the new core was going to commence being constructed has imo failed to deliver on the whole what it could and possibly should have.

Pattison, McGuane arent keepers imo and neither is Polo to be honest and the Tigers imo can do better than these guys and need to.

Meyer well who knows and Tambling well he's gotta step it up.

poor drafting again yes ........ its obvious that not all kids make it but imo from 7 taken they havent done well.

Taking KPP in thre back half of the draft will always yield more failures than successes hence the tigers lack of quality talls on the list as will taking skinny outrunners with early picks and trading early picks off for skinny outrunners.

The fact Wallet wouldnt know a tall if they were standing next to him doesnt help either.

sheesh hindsight is great and we are all gurus with it but fair dinkum the so called talent scouts at RFC have been poor at identifying quality talent.

i agree with maisey that draft can only be classified as an unmittigated failure. 05 was worse.only 3 picks god knows what they were thinking and all of those 3 jon hughes and casserly are on thin ice.

White I'd agree with but just wondering on what basis do you think Hughes has taken a 'huge' step forward ToTs?

Plenty of question marks still there for mine.

Jury is in on the '04, '05 drafts, I agree with daisy, we flunked and the man in charge just lost his job.

Good post BTW Scooper.
yep agree hughes looks in trouble to me. yet have to admit he was one i liked in the 05 draft.the way things are going atm i would keep schulz in font of hughes and you know where i stand with schulzy. anyway hughes will have another yr to show something even though i dont think he has enough tools to make it.

For example, do you blame the slow progress of JoN on the coach or the recruiter?

Easy to forget that Oakleys is the same age as Riewoldt, Connors, Collins, Edwards, Collard

and younger than Mcguane, Hughes Casserley Graeme White Morton etc...

Forget Cotchin and Lids - They're freaks

If he (oakleys) hasn't progressed in three years then yes, we have problems.

But he's not out of Kindergarten yet

Hughes has the physical tools to make a strong key forward. He has size, leads well, marks cleanly out in front and kicks straight.

The question marks are on his work ethic and on his contested marking, which are still poor. He has demonstrated this year that if opportunities are presented he can get a kick and if he gets a few kicks he can kick goals. There is plenty to work with.

No the question mark is in his head. Does he have the mental capacity to become an AFL Footballer?

IMHO he can take a contested mark, he took a couple of beauties in the games he played well.

Even the amateur PRE pundits pointed out the floors in the a lot of the above players games straight after the draft.

How many flaws are in the bad building with 27 floors Leysy?
