Junior Leadership Group

GPB, I still just reckon it's recognition of who he is already not what he needs to become.

these 'Junior' leader roles are more about creating a clear-cut direction into the future for the next generation of players, (ie. the last couple of years of draftees) and means we can get more value out of our, err, 'generation x' - I think. True on-field leadership is for the big-boys, the superstars.

Lets give our newest recruits every chance. Let's build the boy's a home castle.

Just on everyone stating that this player or that player should not have been chosen must remember that they were chosen by their peers not the coaching staff or football dept.

.........and what are you saying 'peers' don't make mistakes?

It ends up as circular reasoning really. If the peers don't make mistakes because it has all the 'right leaders' in it then that means all the 'right leaders' would be picked.  If the 'right leaders' are part of the peer group then you would expect the 'right leaders' to be selected.  If the wrong leaders are selected by the peers then that would suggest the peer group is flawed with no quorum of 'right leaders' because they couldn't pick the 'right leaders'.  Got that.  I hope that clears every thing up :-[

I just don't understand why every little thing the club does is pedantically picked to pieces lately.  We can have opinions but the players would know far better than us how others conduct themselves around the club and what potential leadership qualities any of them have.

I'm sure peers aren't infallible but they'd have a far better insight than any of us here.  I'm happy to accept their choices and wish all the kids all the best.  Some might rise to the occasion and some might struggle.  Time will tell. Either way there's nothing to lose by this initiative.

i got a few with Hyde and Schulz!!
Really? Who would have guessed? :hihi

Well done Oldie was waiting for that my good man. ;)

My issue with Jay is he is struggling to start if not save his career this year and i dont think he is yet ready to be a leadr, he has been a very poor trainer ect, which is not what leaders do.
If such a role snaps him into line then well and good i just find it strange thats all.

I'd rather your Sarge concentrate on his footy and nothing more, so hopefully we will see more than just teeny tiny teases of talent.

Hyde is just an ordinary player that trains hard, sort of like the teachers pet who is a dud student. :hihi

The leadership group was picked by peers. Obviously Jay has a presence which is respected by the group. as with the Johnson decision - hard to argue with what the players themselves want!

Exactly! And you cannot have everyone in the leadership groups...

Not at all geoffry but the general impression you get from most of the posts here is that they are pointing the finger at the football dept or coaches.
