PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Most of the vitriol that spewed forth on PRE on MacMahon had to do with the quality of the pick that we traded for, and that he was a skinny HBF that we already had plenty of.
First of all, you can only trade what you have. Sure if we had of had pick 22, or pick 28, that may have made some feel better about his recruitment - but that fact is we had pick 19, and that's that.
I guess we could have used pick 35, which undoubtably would have given his arrival less pressure from PRE, but the oft criticised Mr Greg Miller had already used that on a certain Mitch Morton, who by the by is looking pretty handy right now.
And picking up "another skinny (half back) flanker" has proved very valuable. MacMahon adds pace, consistently runs the lines and most importantly has the ability to hit a target coming out of defence - all very important attributes.
Finally, he also helps fill the gap in the mid 20's age bracket, which was sorely under-staffed thanks to Frawley's "forgotton years".
I reckon the jury is in on MacMahon and imo it is a resounding thumbs up.
