am i the only person who saw heaps of good signs this year? mustve been i guess...

here is a question....how many games did you attend this year where you left the game being "EMBARRASSED by the team performance?

i say one...geelong..and i say ..they wouldve thrashed anyone that day...not just us...

i dont think i actually felt embarrassed that day...i think i was incredulous...a bit like port adelaide felt the other day when the supposedly TWO TOP TEAMS played off for the premiership...port didnt do much better than poor old richmond, the bottom team...

nice post. Few games were shockers, but most I felt we were in it but kept fading in the second half (our final quarters were shockers!). I put that down mostly to size and age, so hopefully the kids step up next year.

More promising signs though than the sad years of the Frawley era. I ended that era gutted, at least now I have some optimism.

To answer your question.........

I went to 16 games this year, the following are ones I left embarrassed.........

Rnd 1 V Carlton
Rnd 6 V Geelong
Rnd 15 V Hawthorn
Rnd 16 V Port Adelaide

No, there's a few of us ronnit. It was great to see the kids get a go and have a crack. Willy, Jake, Luke, Dan and Shane really stood out as massive improvers this year. Lids stepped it up a notch and Polak was a good find. Foley was a revelation and a joy to watch all season. Seeing Browny come back was heartwarming. Lastly, I defy any true Tiger support to deny that they had anything but pride or love for the big old fella when he turned up the next week after breaking his cheek bone without any plastic face protection, and he didn't flinch from a single contest.

Plenty to feel good about, but at the end of the day, we came dead set last, won a spoon and some of our more senior boys failed us this year.

Richmond v Port Richo's 250th
the trash they served up that day on a milestone game of a club champion was laughable
Ronnit. Especially from some of the senior players.
2nd half vs Hawthorn.
Sydney in Sydney
Dogs in the first half.
Pies in the 2nd half in rd 3.
Port in the 1st half in rd 7.
Brisbane game that was of suburban standard and we got a draw. ::)

IMO that Geelong game is an anomally( spelling)

I still beleive we had a large group of players not wanting to play that game.

The Gaspargate affair.

other than that - their was a few games that were bad to watch.

The one I saw - Brisbane draw, I was very embarrassed by our football on that day - the only comforting thing was Brisbane were just as bad.

The players need confidence - not just in their ability but in how they will be treated in both, rewarded with game time if its deserved. to many times players who didn't deserve a game played. And the ones that did - were dropped. ( and thats before the Coburg Finals drive came in effect)

Please bring on CC's pre season reports - I so want to fool myself again

I didn't attend near as many as usual but that was because of local footy, which I found more enjoyable to be honest,  and lack of time.  The game I remember leaving feeling less than wonderful was the earlier Bummers one where we started playing kick to kick with 10 minutes to go and let them run over us.  It was sticking out like dogs tails that it was going to happen....and it did.

There were some good signs and some disappointing ones (more good me thinks).

I've done some whinging on here tonight but only with regard to the possibility of trading decent picks for average players like McMahon. This is a well documented issue with Tiger recruiting over the last 25 years.

If we manage to draft some players who have a purpose at the club, then there is certainly a big upside to 2008.

Agree Skip though I think you can throw in Doggies and Brisvegas as well.

I don't know which I felt more embarrased about, Geelong or Brisbane. We just got out and out steam rollered by Geelong. Against Brisbane the teams were far more even, but our decision making and skill levels were simply apalling. I could barely generate the energy to celebrate not losing.

I thought I saw plenty to give me hope. Our young blokes look good. I was just disappointed by the lack of commitment by some senior players. I would also have liked to see some leadership on game day from TW. I thought there were a few moves being cried out for that he didn't respond to.

In particular we played the Saints the same way both times this year, after being towelled up the first time I thought TW should have been ready for them. Clearly he wasn't.

The Cats game hurt but.......

I felt most gutted after the last round loss to the Saints. I didn't get to see the game, but after hearing on the radio that the Saints were tired and the Tigers full of running in the last quarter, and then we got 9 points up, to lose left me with the bitter taste of a possible tank. Some of the last quarter coaching left a lot to be desired.

I would so much have preffered to have avoided another wooden spoon.

nab cup game against geelong
carlton rnd 1
2nd half pies
geelong game
brisbane draw
port away
kangas at dome
hawks
2nd half port (richo 250th)

plenty of good times!

in refernace to the tank...it is not the players who tanked...it was the coaching staff who removed chris newman who was on fire and brownie...half way through the last quarter...chris got best on the ground that day..and the 3 brownlow votes...and was taken off for a vital ten minutes..so was brownie...

that was not tanking..that was a coaches move...the players on the bench in front of me sure didnt seem happy about sitting it out for a while
