I am sure many supporters are just hollow inside. the management of the club lead us to believe we would see a fired up Richmond going at the finals. Instead we see another 13-16th performance again. We will get little if any benefit in the draft.
Hard times calls for hard decisions
1. Coach - finally fall on your sword - goodbye, you told the Hafey club members watch the next month, well 3 weeks in ENOUGH and Goodbye
2. 30 yo+ players - goodbye except Richo and Cousins. Simmonds it bewilders me why the club did not get a top class ruckman to replace you. Brown you have had better days good bye back to the seconds. Bowden I loved your season last year but mate you dont do enough to lift the side. Johnson goodbye too
3. Play each and every young player from Coburg and weed out those who cannot kick
4. Somone find out what happened to Thursfield - he looked good last year and could kick
5. Trade McMahon - terrible trade and look at Callan ward we could have had him instead
6. Change our playing style - its NOT working - can we not play man on man?? Or play direct to Richo or Riewoldt in the goalsquare???
7. Rev our midfield - playing to a losing ruck each week is frustrating but you should be doing more, Campbell who some tout as our coach should be doing more there
8. Appoint either K Sheedy, L Matthews or someone from another club who can instill discipline and decent skills - our skills coach should be sacked

Not so gutted now, just angry. I was more gutted in the NAB cup when my expectations were dashed. I expected this sort of capitulation

Have to agree lionheart. I was at the NAB Collingwood game with my family and we all cracked up with the turnovers on display. I thought that night we are in for a long season. If that is what was on display after a preseason, that's what you'll get all season.

We are in for some pain.We need a cleanout & the next few yr's drafts will be dominated by new teams.

Agree with the Simmonds comment, he has been absolutely pathetic so far this season and all he is doing is restricting the development of the likes of Pattison, Putt and Vickery.

Regarding McMahon, no-one was impressed with his efforts last year or in Rd1 this year, but he wasn't worst on ground today so perhaps not necessary to focus on him at this stage.

Oh and, yes I am gutted. I remember 5 years ago some guy walked into the club and hoped to have the club achieving premiership success after 5 years of development, what happened to that?

Walking from the MCG today I started to wonder what the future holds. Are we in for more pain?

Do we have any real potential or should we start from scratch? Have the last 5 years been wasted?

Before every season I always have hope however this year I had even greater expectation on the what I thought was an exciting, emerging young list. Now all hope is gone and I believe we are likely to finish in the bottom 2-4. The typical Richmond things that have happened over the last decade is unbelievable - - - trading top picks away. That's the bottom line. Our recruiting has been terrible. I won't even begin to speak about the mistakes made as I feel this is evident in Richmond's performance today.

We are only 4 weeks into the season and the future looks grim. Wheather Wallaca stays or goes for the remainder of the season does not really bother me. He'll be gone next season. Yes the players are responsible for the down right shocking skill errors and decision making but who puts that cattle on the paddock? Wallace. He has had 5 years to develop a list yet opted for quick fixes.

Ah why do I even bother with my beloved Tigers when all they do is let us supporters down?

In fairness to Wallace, I don't believe he has opted for quick fixes. Frawley and Miller traded first round draft picks for Johnson and Brown. Under Wallace we have retained all of our first round picks.

The only older established players that Wallace has recruited has been McMahon whom we gave up way too much for a 2nd round selection and Polak who was worth a 3rd round pick given he can mark the ball and play either end of the ground before his injury. We gave up nothing to get Cousins so regardless of how many games he plays, he is worth the risk in my view.

Under Wallace however, players have not developed and skill levels are well below the standard required.

9. Stop drafting midgets
And what I really meant to say was.........
that Dale Wightman was one of the great midgets and he palyed at Tigerland.
You mean stick people like Edwards, McMahon, Nahas, JON who the dietitians should get hold of and put on a beer and pizza diet to fatten their emaciated bodies up.

Having decided to follow the winner of the 80GF the subsequent 28 years have been pretty much all crap and the 29th ain't looking much better. I have come to realise it is hope that drives most of AFL (given 15 teams don't win each year) and to be 0 and 4 and having lost to Melbourne hope has gone out the door for 2009 (almost). What is more depressing is it doesn't look much better for the next 3-4 years, and given the incoming GC and WS clubs that could stretch things out another few years (if we go a full (proper)) rebuild option. I think the Darksider's have been right and we have been pulling the wool over our own eyes. Once Cotchiin, Cousins and maybe Coughlan come in, we may win 8-10 games still but its looks like paint on some pretty faded mouldy 1970's wallpaper. I'm giving it 2 more weeks for this year and if we lose the next 2, which seems likely, can pack it in until next year.

I beg to differ!

Do the names Kent Kingsley and Mark Graham ring a bell?

And by the way, a first round pick was traded in the Richmond - Collingwood - Fremantle deal in '06, when we traded #8 for #13 and Graham Polak. Luckily enough, #8 turned out to be Ben Reid and #13 was Jack Riewoldt.
