I was just wondering, first the afl get rid of the Reserves etc, but now collingwood can field a stand alone team in the vfa.
I know some other clubs have been mooted as doing the same, but how come its now being allowed?

Any thoughts on the matter
 
I think it's been allowed for some time. Most clubs have found it financially unviable. Of course, the Pies would be the first to be able to afford it.
 
Yeah it's just down to finances.

Collingwood didn't like being restricted to having 12 in their team, and didn't like jeopardising the development of their juniors for the sake of Williamstown winning games.

Must say, I wish we could do the same on one hand, but I enjoy walking to Coburg Oval to see my tigers juniors play when work allows.
