Kamdyn McIntosh

Action Kam has been on our list four seasons. Three of those seasons were badly hampered by injury. Not good.

So we're hoping he can get right for 2017. In terms his soundness it's make or break. If he goes down again he's a crock.

If he gets on the park I think he can improve again. He has a very good footy brain. That scrappiness can be addressed IMO.

Note also that he is 'big-bodied'. 192/91. NB a heavier small than Dustin Martin. And aggressive. (When it's sensible - he knows his injury situation. Smart.) He is one of the very few 2016 Richmond players who fits this profile.

What he does best is outnumber. McIntosh gets quickly to existing one-on-one contests as the cavalry. (This is wingman *smile*. This is very good. We were one on one now we're two on one. We win.) And then he can separate. He can make mistakes by foot in this situation. I think he panics because slow. He'll learn.

I don't see this as inside mid stuff. That's why I never think of McIntosh as an inside mid prospect. And BTW I don't see McIntosh as strong below the knees.

As it stands McIntosh is hopeless overhead. He's very much a small. Not to say we won't improve his aerial game but it's not natural. He's a small.

I'm pretty sure we've got him pegged for HBF in 2017. Gives us some muscle there. He can stand up in most tackles. He can flourish on a HBF. Polish up a bit. I hope he stays sound. I like him. He is smart.

To me he is the perfect inside mid. Really don't like him at hbf. Doesn't have the skills or the marking ability. Use his run, aggression and big body in the middle and watch him flourish imo

Maybe he'll get a chance inside in the pre season, Colonel, and we can have a look. He's certainly tough enough.

Why do we need to turn him into a hbf? Thought he's progressed OK on the wing and it's not like we have tough strong wingers coming out of our ears. Keep progressing him on the wing. Could become very damaging if he can continue improving his weaknesses.

He really could be played in a number of positions, but I would prefer him to stay on the wing or half back where he can use his speed and gut running. Looked great when he got into some space and took off with a few bounces.

Not convinced by his marking ability, and I'm not convinced his hands are good enough to play in the middle.

Just keep it simple for Kamdyn, don't wanna turn him into another B Ellis.

i reckon his best position for us in HBF. he gives us a 190cm+ running player which is something he otherwise lack. with some work on his defensive ability he can play on the marking HFs.
i doubt his ability to play inside cos he doesnt have clean hands. his is fine in space cos he can keep the ball in front but when in tight his fumbles will be stolen.

There's a reason his form dropped off when he went into defence. It's not his natural game. He loves to run up and down the wing so let's keep using that. Some of his inside work in the forward 50 has been really good aswell. He isn't the cleanest by foot but we need to use his athletic ability and big body.

I like him out in the open with the field in front of him. Whether thats as a winger or a HBF I don't care.

Calls for him to go inside under-utilise his open speed. Have never thought of him as an inside mid.

We have Caddy/Prestia/Miles/Cotch and maybe Barlow...awwwww

You can have pace as an inside mid, just look at Judd in his prime and Dangerfield. IMO kmac is wasted in the back line. We don't really have big midfielders. Kmac could add so much in there for us.

I just like that the kid likes to hurt when he tackles. We have so few (and by few I mean none).
Granted disposal is iffy but generally he bangs it long and I can live with that.
Apologies if this seems overly crude or simplistic to the modern game.....but I reckon sometimes you need one of these types.

True but he is neither a Judd or a Danger.

Yep Wing or Inside for me, needs to keep himself on park, he has been injured for 3 of the 4 years he's been on our list??
Wing is his best spot due to his height and long kick. B.Ellis is an undersized wingman, don't like him there.

That he is not, but it demonstrates that pace is not wasted if you play as an inside mid. If anything it is an extra weapon.

I see no viable alternative for Brandon in the senior side. His kicking is too iffy too play in the backline.

Like Kmac, they are both wingers and performed considerably worse when pushed onto the HBF. I like them both (along with Menadue) as wingers and run with hopefully Yarran, Markov etc off the hbf. Both excellent kicks with great run and carry. Now, how do we get Yarran to play for us!!

I reckon McIntosh is our best option for CHB at the moment

Why do you think that? is it because he has height?

He hasn't looked completely out of place playing in defence but I agree with others suggesting he should stay on the wing, and at worst hbf. I liked the idea of him playing midfield, ala Bontompelli, but from what I know about him he hasn't played much midfield in his junior days (feel free to correct), and it takes more than just a big body to be an effective midfielder.

He can and will learn. It's not that hard: 1. Position yourself to get the ball and 2. Use it effectively by hand or foot.

It hasn't changed to rocket science yet.

The part in bold you've got it or you don't.

I don't think Kamdyn is anywhere clean enough in traffic to be a inside mid. Work to his strengths.

1. Endurance 2. Not bad one on one 3. Runs straight. 4. Runs hard into space.

Born winger.
