Kane Johnson retires !

I was only just thinking of Kane on the weekend after seeing the young West Coast Eagle player replicate his infamous 'wrong way kick'.

One of the finest exponents of kicking the wrong way, he'll leave big shoes to fill.

Jake King is my favourite to fill the wrong way kick void.

Well done on a fantastic career Sugar! Hope you stick around Punt Rd for a long time yet...

Well done on a great onfield career Kane and i hope that your coaching career reaches your expectations.
Could you please make the first task in your new role to develop the other Kane out the door!!!
That would be a good start

Good timing Sugar. Pulling the pin now instead of the end of the year sends a positive message to the playing group that the new era can start now, well done. Good luck in the new role, and well done to RFC on siezing the opportunity. You were always a bit misunderstood by the majority of fans I think but your obvious respect inside the playing group is testimony to your calibre as a leader.

I am a bit sad on hearing that Kane has retired. I was hoping he would be back for a few games later in the year but he has chosen his exit so good on him.

He is much maligned by Tiger fans without reason. A Captain's Captain I reckon.

He was the general of our midfield, protecting our developing players and leading from the front when required.

His "generalship" was missed in the game he stood himself down with our young guys getting smashed in the middle. They didn't get smashed the next week, or in any game that Kane was part of. He sacrificed his own game for our cubs and that is why he is respected among the player group so much.

Congrats on a great career and best wishes for the future.

Go Sugar.
Very good post. :clap

Yes. In fact he sacrificed his career in going to the tiges. He was put in a negative tagging role because he was the only one tough enough to do it. He could have gone to a better club and played with more flair. I think Kane Johnson is one of the few class acts we have had at the club in recent years.

All the best KJ. Agree with other posters congradulating you on your efforts and contributions to the RFC since you came over mate. :clap

Ditto on this and most of the other posters. Well done Kane Johnson

Kane was always a Tiger, even when he played for Adelaide. I think it's great that even after his onfield involvement is finished he's prepared to still do what he can for the club.
