That was quite a number, TF. Very impressive rendition. Outstanding costume and a supoib choice.

You can't see any of that stubble in this light, TC. Michael, don't be so defeatist. Look on the bright side. In this club if you can't get a girl you can still BE one. ;D I'm still working on Plan A... badly.

I was talking to that African couple at the front table during the break. They've agreed to join me a little later. In a song, I mean. I keep my swingin for the stage, man.

There was some youth at anither table with a shiny new "C" harp in his denim jacket pocket.

Oh, the lights are going down again. That's my cue.

I got my orange sideburns teased out and my bad rusty hair swept to one side. I'm pallid, paunchy and pimply but inspite of this I bear a striking resemplance to James Brown. I got a batik print, cheescloth frock with matching flares, a kind of hippie pajama.

I'm Van the Man in a Kaftan! And the saxophones intro my jive.

Don't want to discuss it
I think it's time for a change
You may get disgusted
And think I'm strange
In that case I'll go underground
Get some heavy rest
Never have to worry
About what is worst and what is best

Oh oh Domino
Roll me over Romeo
There you go
Lord have mercy
I said oh oh Domino
Roll me over Romeo
There you go
Say it again
I said oh oh Domino
I said oh oh Domino

There's no need for argument
There's no argument at all
And if you never hear from him
That just means he didn't call
Or vice versa
That depends on where ever you're at
And if you never hear from me
That just means I would rather not

I said oh oh Domino
Roll me over Romeo
There you go
Lord have mercy!
I said oh oh Domino
Roll me over Romeo
There you go
Say it again
Oh oh Domino
I said oh oh Domino.

Before I go to the bar and buy another round of drinks, I thought I would liven up the place.

I have my Kenny Everitt instant Bee Gees Pills for this group sing along (Follow the bouncing ball):

Ballroom Blitz
(Sweet)

Are you ready, Steve? Aha.
Andy? Yeah! Mick? OK.
Alright, fellas, let's go!

Oh it's been getting so hard
Livin' with the things you do to me, aha
Oh my dreams are getting so strange
I'd like to tell you everything I see
Oh, I see a man at the back
As a matter of fact his eyes are red as the sun
And a girl in the corner let no one ignore her
'Cause she thinks she's the passionate one

Oh, yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man at the back said
Everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz

I'm reaching out for something
Touching nothing's all I ever do
Oh, I softly call you over
When you appear there's nothing left of you, aha
Now the man in the back
Is ready to crack as he raises his hands to the sky
And the girl in the corner is ev'ryone's mourner
She could kill you with a wink of her eye

Oh yeah, it was electric, so frightfully hectic
And the band started leaving, 'cause they all stopped breathing

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man at the back said
Everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz

Oh yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man at the back said
Everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz

It's it's a ballroom blitz, it's it's a ballroom blitz
It's it's a ballroom blitz, yeah, it's a ballroom blitz

I think we should get "Dyer'ere" out to do his rendition / interpretation of

Blister In The Sun
(Violent Femmes)

When I'm out walking I strut my stuff man I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite I just might stop to check you out
let me go on like I blister in the sun
let me go on big hands I know your the one
body and beats I stain my sheets I don't even know why
my girlfriend she's at the end she is starting to cry
let me go on like I blister in the sun
let me go on big hands I know your the one...
When I'm out walking I strut my stuff man I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite I just might stop to check you out
When I'm out walking I strut my stuff man I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite I just might stop to check you out

Here it is then, since it was requested by the majority of patrons (1) ;D

Fox On The Run
(Sweet)

I - don't wanna know your name
'Cause you don't look the same
The way you did before
O.K. - you think you got a pretty face
But the rest of you is out of place
You looked allright before

Fox on the run
You scream and everybody comes a running
Take a run and hide yourself away
Foxy is on the run
F - foxy
Fox on the run
And hide away

You - you talk about just every band
But the names you drop are second hand
I've heard it all before
I - don't wanna know your name
'Cause you don't look the same
The way you did before

Fox on the run
You scream and everybody comes a running
Take a run and hide yourself away
Foxy is on the run
F - foxy
Fox on the run
And hide away

F - foxy
Fox on the run
You scream and everybody comes a running
Take a run and hide yourself away
Foxy is on the run
F - foxy
Fox on the run
And hide away
Fox on the run
Fox on the run
Fox on the run
Fox on the run...

The man in black, you've set us up. The classics, the C&W icons. Do you do requests? How about The Man in Black by the man in black?

Sorry Jack.  It's too early in the night for the really earnest numbers.

Maybe a swap. How about a rendition of Crazy Love.

Ok ok TC........

How many of you know the Classic Moody Blues number 'Go Now'

We,ve already said
Goodbye
Since you gotta go, oh you'd better
Go now go now, go now (Go now)
Before you see me cry
I don't want you to tell me just what you intend to do now
'Cause how many times do I have to tell you darlin', darlin'
I'm still in love with you now
Whoa-oh-oh-oh

We've already said
So long
I don't wanna see you go, oh you'd better
Go now go now, go now (Go now)
Don't you even try
Tellin' me that you really don't want it to end this way
'Cause darlin', darlin', can't you see I want you to stay
Yeah, yeah

Since you gotta go, oh you'd better
Go now go now, go now (Go now)
Before you see me cry
I don't want you to tell me just what you intend to do now
'Cause how many times do I have to tell you darlin', darlin'
I'm still in love still in love with you now
Whoa-oh-oh-oh
I don't wanna see you go but darlin', you better go now

Ripper track that one

Love that song man :'( :'( sob

Stay up there and we can do Nights in White Satin together

Nights in white satin, never reaching the end
Letters I've written, never meaning to send
Beauty I'd always missed, with these eyes before
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore
'Cause I love you, yes I love you, oh, how I love you

Gazing at people, some hand in hand
Just what I'm going through they can't understand
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end
And I love you, yes I love you
Oh, how I love you, oh, how I love you

Nights in white satin, never reaching the end
Letters I've written, never meaning to send
Beauty I'd always missed, with these eyes before
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore
'Cause I love you, yes I love you
Oh, how I love you, oh, how I love you

'Cause I love you, yes I love you
Oh, how I love you, oh, how I love you

(spoken)
Breathe deep in the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy's spent
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her sun
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white
And we decide which is right
And which is an illusion?

Thankyou, TC. You are too generous. :-[ :bow :bow :bow-wow ;D

Yet more staggeringly good work from the Kangaroo Lounge artists. Some of em might be sober. We'll have to work on that.

Brilliant karaoke posts show bizz whizzes!

An auspicious debut, Missing33!

Brilliant!

Sometimes the worst songs make the best karaoke. But not always. ;D

The other funny thing is that despite the cavalcade of karaoke talent, the room is not hard to work. It's warm and rockin. I can't do moondance, TC. With all the talent, there won't be dry seat in the place. :hihi Time for a sad song?

Did I just hear an organ intro? That's my cue. Luckily I kept my Van kaftan on and I've set up my plants in the audience before Domino. ;)

Tight spot. I walk into it as the organ finishes the intro of Street Choir by Van Morrison.

Street Choir sing me the song for the new day
Don't make it long and remember to sing it the old way
Let it all out, let your voice ring in the street now
My fun, will be this one to complete now

[Lights up on the African couple who've joined me on stage- my Street Choir]

Why did you leave America
Why did you let me down
And now that things seem better off
Why do you come around
You know I just can't see you now
In my new world crystal ball
You know I just can't free you now
That's not my job at all

Move it on up, move it on up by the window
Magnificent flow, let it all go in the moonglow
I'll take the wine, I'll take the wine in the gravy
Ask you the time, and just send the bill to my baby

[Lights up on youthful harp player, SoR, who wails out a lament for a dozen or so bars. Every body's real sad, now and as he tails off the Street Choir resumes it's soulful harmonies]

Why did you leave America
Why did you let me down
And now that things seem better off
Why do you come around
You know I just can't see you now
In-a-my In-a-my new world crystal ball
You know I just can't free you now
That's not my job at all

Why did you leave America
Why did you let me down
And now that things seem better off
Why do you come around
You know I just can't see you now
[Testify!!]In-a-my, In-a-my, In-a-my new world crystal ball
You know I just can't free you now
That's not my job at all

[The Street Choir takes us out]
I just can't free you now
That's not my job at all.

I better lift the mood a little, I've come over all sad :'(

Whilst I still have very little hair on me legs I thought I'd bang out an all time classic

Long Haired Lover from Liverpool, 5 weeks at #1, I had it and I know you all had a copy....

(well maybe our sisters did)

Little

Jimmy

Osmond

I´ll be your long haired lover from Liverpool
And I´ll do anything you say
I´ll be your clown or your puppet or your April Fool
If you´ll be my sunshine daisy from L.A

I´ll be your leprechaun and sit upon an old toadstool
I´ll serenade you till I´m old and gray
I´ll be your long haired lover from Liverpool
You´ll be my sunshine daisy from L.A

(You´ll be my lovely daisy on the mountainside)
(There are lots of other flowers, too)
But all the other flowers hung their heads and cried
Because the loveliest of all them was you

(But you were evidently the exception to the rule)
I picked you quickly then I ran away
´Cause I was your long haired lover from Liverpool
You were my sunshine daisy from L.A

I´ll be your long haired lover from Liverpool
And I´ll do anything you ask
I´ll be your clown or your puppet or your April Fool
Cut my hair, I´ll even wear a mask

I´ll be your Valentine, and you´ll be mine, and things´ll be cool
We´ll move along together every day
I´ll be your long haired lover from Liverpool
You´ll be my sunshine daisy from L.A
You´ll be my sunshine daisy from L.A

I´ll be your long haired lover from Liverpool
And I´ll do anything you ask
I´ll be your clown or your puppet or your April Fool
Cut my hair I´ll even wear a mask

I´ll be your Valentine, and you´ll be mine, and things´ll be cool
We´ll move along together every day
I´ll be your long haired lover from Liverpool
You´ll be my sunshine daisy from L.A

Unreal.  ;D  Nothing like Donny Osmond's pearly whites to shake off the melancholy mood I've suffered since Michael discovered his lust love was unrequited. :'(

I'm outa this smoky old pub...time for beach Karaoke.  Stars shining on the water, bonfire on the sand, floral shirts and thongs.

In  best Jimmy Buffett voices....join in

Now they make new movies in old black and white,
With happy endings, where nobody fights,
So if you find yourself in that nostalgic rage,
Honey, jump right up and show your age.

I wish I had a pencil-thin mustache,
the "Boston Blackie" kind, or a
two-toned Ricky Ricardo jacket,
and an autographed picture of Andy Divine.

Oh, I remember bein' buck toothed and skinny
Writin' fan letters to Sky's niece Penny.
Oh, I wish I had a pencil-thin mustache,
then I could solve some mysteries too.
Oh it's Bandstand, Disneyland, growin' up fast,
Drinkin' on a fake I.D.
And Rama of the jungle was everyone's Bawana,
But only jazz musicians were smokin marijuana.
Yeah, I wish I had a pencil-thin mustache,
then I could solve some mysteries too.

But then it's flat-top, dirty bop, copin' a feel'
grubbin on the living room floor;
They send you off to college to try to gain
a little knowledge,
But all you want to do is learn how to score.
Yeah, but now I'm gettin' old, don't wear underwear,
I don't go to church, and I don't cut my hair;
But I can go to movies and see it all there,
Just the way that it use to be.

That's why I wish I had a pencil-thin mustache
the "Boston Blackie" kind, or a
two-toned Ricky Ricardo jacket,
And an autographed picture of Andy Divine.

Oh, I could be anyone I wanted to be,
Maybe suave Errol Flynn or the Sheik of Araby.
If I only had a pencil-thin mustache,
then I could do some cruising too.

Yeah, Brylcream, a little dab'll do yah,
Oh, I could do some cruising too.

Those of us who were in our teens+ a couple of decades may remember this one....We can all have a crack at being Pete Shelley...

"I'm the shy boy
You're the coy boy
And you know we're
Homosapien too
I'm the cruiser
You're the loser
Me and you sir
Homosapien too
Homosuperior
In my interior
But from the skin out
I'm Homosapien too
And you're Homosapien too
And I'm Homosapien like you
And we're Homosapien too

And I think of your eyes in the dark and I see the star
And I look to the light and I might wonder right where you are
All the gods in the sky way up high see the world spinning 'round
But the sun and the moon and the stars are so far from the ground

I'm the shy boy
You're the coy boy
And you know we're
Homosapien too
I'm the cruiser
You're the loser
Me and you sir
Homosapien too
Homosuperior
In my interior
But from the skin out
I'm Homosapien too
And you're Homosapien too
And I'm Homosapien like you
And we're Homosapien too

And the worlds built of age are a stage where we act out our lives
And the words in the script seem to fit 'cept we have some surprise
I just want this to last or my future is past and all gone
And if this is the case then I'll lose in life's race from now on

Homosuperior
In my interior
But from the skin out
I'm Homosapien too
And you're Homosapien too
And I'm Homosapien like you
And we're Homosapien too

And I just hope and pray that the day of our love is at hand
You and I, me and you, we will be one from two, understand?
And the world is so wrong that I hope that we'll be strong enough
For we are on our own and the only thing known is our love
I don't wanna classify you like an animal in the zoo
But it seems good to me to know that you're Homosapien too

I'm the shy boy
You're the coy boy

I don't wanna classify you like an animal in the zoo
But it seems good to me to know that you're Homosapien too
I don't wanna classify you like an animal in the zoo
But it seems good to me to know that you're Homosapien too
I don't wanna classify you like an animal in the zoo
But it seems good to me to know that you're Homosapien too" (fade)
