Dunno what to say....
Cant bag em....
Dont want to.....
But still reckon their premierships in the 70,s were CONTRIVED.....and not bornnout of team spirit and tradition...... :P

If ever there is a team we OWE big time, the Kangas are it.

If we play dumb football, their little blokes will kill us once again. Come on Richmond, we've got one back at Essendon and Geelong, let's give one back to the Roos.

Then we can move on to Port and St Kilda, who are also OWED >:D

Watched all of the Kangaroos GFs of the 70s live.

They were a great side.
1. Dench was the best FB that I've seen in my lifetime. That Prelim against Hudson in 1977 was the ultimate game by a FB.
2. Arnie Briedis was a favourite of mine. Kicked 5 goals in each of their winning GFs, and kicked 0.7 and was still BOG in the drawn one.
3. Burns in the centre was a terrific hard ball getter.
4. Cable, ran around the ground, Bartlett-like, picking up and delivering easy possies.
5. Greig was good too, but Woody always beat him on a wing.
6. Crosswell was the key to their premierships. Always did the job that had to be done. A great footballer, almost the equal of Royce Hart.
7. Blight, great in H&A games, useless in finals.

My favourite North side of the 70s:
B: Henshaw Dench Gumbleton
HB: Montgomery Crosswell Rantall
C: Greig Burns Schimmelbusch
HF: Icke Briedis Blight
F: Wade Baker Cable
R: Keenan Byrne Cassin
I: Nolan Chisnall Feltham Sutton (Even though there were only 2 ressies in those days.)
E: Dempsey Cowton Nettlefold

I'm sure I've accidentally left 1 or 2 out.
Dempsey's career was nearly over by the time he got to North, and Barry Davis was gone by the time North got there.
Besides, Dempsey saved games, but he never won them.

Why not bag them for being the team with no name.  They aren't North Melbourne any more, they are just the Kangaroos.  Having no name is pathetic.

At the start of each game they sing their song "Good old North Melbourne".  I like to remind them, to look at the scoreboard and notice that there is no "North Melbourne" written on it, so they must be singing about some other team.    8)

Hated them when King played (thankfully he's with us now).

Hated Mick Martin, just a dirty jump in ya' back/ thump you in the back of your head player.

Hate Glenn Archer, he's nothing but an over-rated sniper who has a nasty side that detracts from the courageous part of his game. Andy Kellaway is courageous, Archer is a thug!

I just expected this thread to be started by Monty Burns. Or maybe mb64 and nitro are in cahoots.
