Kayne Pettifer - Time to stand up!!!

Pettifer is vastly improved and is now one of the top forward flankers in the competition. Just a notch below O'Keefe, who is similar in alot of ways, but more well rounded with his hardness and defensive side.

That's one of the reasons O'Keefe is considered one of the best players in one of the best teams in the comp.
His workrate is huge offensively AND defensively. Watch him play closely sometime, he's the complete footballer. He busts his balls to put pressure on the opposition and do the team things. This is a huge difference between the Swans/Eagles of the comp and the Tigers.

I agree Petiffer has improved many aspects of his game but he is still lazy.
If you a look at Kayne's stats in the tackles and 1%s department, he is well towards the bottom of our list, and this for a team that is the worst in the comp in these areas.

Pettifer laid 32 tackles in 2006.

Andrew Golden Boy Raines laid 38 tackles.

Joel All Australian CHB Bowden laid 37 tackles.

...Kayne is hardly down the bottom of the list here. I would argue his 1%ers are also consistently better than many of his teammates - he's a smart footballer, always thinking, and rarely puts a teammate at a disadvantage as the result of his actions. (And he kicked more goals than Raines and JBo put together).

I can't understand why people are determined not to admit that we have a genuinely good forward flanker in the side. ???

He is towards the bottom of the list in both category's.
All that indicates to me is perhaps Raines & J Bowden need to lift their tackling work rates as well.

Gloss it over all you want but there are no excuses.
We are pathetic in the tackling stakes as a side and Kayne has a major weakness in that area. I've also highlighted he is not alone but does that excuse it?

I have said he's improved certain aspects of his football the last couple of seasons but he still has flaws in his game. Perhaps it's not a HFF's job to play defensive football but you are only as strong as your weakest link.

Pettifer has improved in alot of areas but one area why he will be maligned is his lack of courage.Fact of the matter he hears footsteps. In fact he,s got the running to a contest but not quite making it down to a fine art.

I wonder how long this thread will go on. It doesn't matter what statistics Pettifer's supporters produce to prove that he is a better player than many others suggest, the ones that don't like Pettifer long ago decided that he was the dreaded 'd' word and like Arthur Fonzarelli have issues with stating "I was wwrrrr....wrr....wrong." Pettifer could have a season in which he won the Brownlow, the Norm Smith and the Coleman and his detractors would still be screaming trade him while he's still worth something! Personally I think he's improved greatly since Terry arrived at the club, there's still work to do, but he's a far more valuable player than many here have suggested.

That's good. Perhaps the Weagles will want him as part of the Judd deal. ;)
