Keep, Trade, Delist: Poll No1 - Danny Meyer

What should we do with Danny Meyer at season's end?

Maybe it's because I see Meyer & Meeson being on the same level.

But you & jayfox are right, "useless" is no criterion for being on our list.

I'd just like to see Meeson for one year, back in Melbourne, away from Adelaide, and see if he does have anything.

Remember that Melbourne flicked both Simmonds & Jolley, thinking both were useless.
What would they give to have both of them now?

Daniher always rated Simmonds as a very good footy player.
Simmonds wanted to have more opportunity, But obviously with White in the same team was never gonna happen.

My understanding of the situation as well.

Meyer for either Maric or Meeson.

All three have probably equally achieved since 2004.
ijust dont understand you here phanto in regards meeson. why would you trade for a player who has done nothing and doesnt look up to the grade. you dont just get em because they are tall and may fill a need. you have to be certain that they are capable of stepping up to the plate.

we need to be improving the list i cant see that happening replacing an underachiever with an underachiever. lets get a jolly in the psd keep him for a couple of yrs and put a couple of decent kids into our system while jolly is there.
Totally agree, I cannot understand the fascination with Meeson from a lot of people- has done absolutely nothing for the Crows and in the few games he played for them at the end of the season, did nothing to impress. Meyer has more potential, at least he has shown signs of class at times

my understanding is with white and simmonds being similar type ruckmen one was going to miss out. they let simmo go as they had jamar jolley and nicholson as furhter backup in their system. i think the mistake the dees made was when they let simmo go they didnt put a young ruckman into their system. the same goes for when jolly left at the end of 04.
in fact when jolly was traded it became a pressing need to get some young ruckmen into their system.
since simmonds left the only player of genuine ruckman size they have drafted is paul johnson who was a slow kpp. poor list management sums up their predicament.

Also earlier that day DM played in the 2's an got a stack of the ball an I really believed he may have come good,9 months on not a lot's changed

Do you think he can turn it around at Richmond CC?
Do you think he can be the player so many here seem to think he can be?

I just wonder what the point of giving him another one year deal is. :headscratch

Trade to crows or Power if possible.

There's little doubt we'll attempt to trade him.
Why else would his name have been missing when all the other youngsters were resigned mid year?
to rejoin the debate on meyer and to answer to some questions. do i think he can turn it around i have no idea. if its just work rate and attitude thats holding him back i would say yes but its more than that.as for him becoming the player most think he will become well for me i would be happy for him just to become a good consistent afl player.
again the only reasons i wish to keep him this yr is i think we have bigger underachievers to get rid of, his age and the fact he has good skills. if a decent trade could be arranged by all means lets do it because we do run the risk of being forced to delist him at the end of next yr if theres no improvement.
it all comes down to the club being able to asses if meyer has what it takes.

one thing we should consider when judging some of our younger players is that they haven`t got the solid core of top class senior players showing them the way and taking the burden off them.
our kids have to do it all themselves.

take joel selwod for example,he`s pretty much got a free reign to do what he likes because the opposition are going to focus on ablett, corey and bartel before him.
plus he gets delivered the ball a lot more because he has the best team in the league passing it to him.
in our 2 games against geelong this year, our 2 kids in deledio and foley had to contend with the best tagger in the business in cameron ling because our senior midfielders are crap.
if deledio and foley played for west coast or geelong they would have a free reign and learn a lot more due to being amongst great players like ablett, bartel, kerr and judd.

i know this is about meyer but i just wanted to use that as an example as to how it`s a lot harder for a kid at richmond to develop than at a good club like geelong or west coast.

i say keep all our young kids like meyer, hughes and tambling.
i just think they will take a bit longer to develop due to our lack of quality senior players.

Lack of solid core of senior players doesn't seem to have stunted Foley's progress. If you are good enough you will make it reagrdless, to blame others is folly and is a failure to take responsiblity for your own future and standing in the game.
