I reckon they'll challenge Newman in the off-season, lidsand. He got the year off big demands due to the injuries.

The first step should be to pass Tivendale.

Got to be given the role to do that Jack.
Final game of the year was extremely encouraging.
Showed what he can do if given the licence in a creative role.
I expect they might move Chris away from the back half next year and give him Tivas spot on the wing.

Oldster, it's not a big change, in terms of role IMO. Here's the thing for Newman, if you want to play HBF or outside midfield you must run forward with the ball and often kick it forward. It's actually easier to do from HBF than outside mid.

For all of Newman's deficiencies I've finally figured out the one that drives me insane. He never runs forward with the it. Cheap leather at halfback can be damaging stuff. All you have to do is gather it, run 9m and kick it fifty and the ball is at CHF.

If you're going to play outside mid you've got to run forward with it. What else are you there for? Newbs has had plenty of chances to run forward with the ball; he just hasn't taken them. If he won't do it next year he's got to go. Or win it in close and that seems less likely to me.

Dropped twice in 2007 despite appearing to have a decent year, and now has missed the top 10 in the b&f after finishing 6th last year. Looks like he's on the outer.

A good test of whether Tigerland IS still prepared to tolerate mediocity, OR NOT!

Tivers ain't Robinson Crusoe either.

yes you are right hes not robinson crusoe and probably not the worst of the culprits. but unlike most others hes had 10 yrs to get himself out of that mediocre category and failed miserably.

To be fair Greg had a reasonable year but he's not going to take the RFC forward. It would only be a matter of time before he returns to producing the failed worm burning kicks and unforced errors we usually see from him. Let's see what he's worth on the market.

no doubt he is

but some still think he just had his best season of his career

A reasonable year by his standards, though nothing to be completely satisfied with... Should have been traded 2-3 years ago when he still had currency but at 29 I can't see it happening...
