Kelvin Moore threads 2998 [Merged]

Let's hope his best mate Schulz can beef up a bit and move his arse a bit faster in 2009 otherwise it's KAPUT !!
Remember that Jay is a full year younger than Moore, so if they click at the same age then 2009 is Jay's year. Schulz also had had a better 2008 than Moore did in 2007.

moore and schulz chalk and cheese. one had manny good attributes to work with but circumstance prevented it. the other well i wont go there.

and yes after 5yrs i gave up on kelvin after he was one of the few i have defended on this site because of his attributes. 6 yrs to establish himself coming from the rookies is unheard of almost.

Give me 1/2 an hour to search claw's old posts. ;D

Schulz has always had good skills, just poor application.
He improved this season and showed other strings to his bow despite what you believe.
I don't think he can improve a lot more but there's some chance because he has some good tools despite a couple of weaknesses.
At ages 23-25 he should be playing his best football but if he already is then I agree that it's not good enough.
I think he should get one more year but certainly won't be opposed to a trade if it's good for us.

2008 was the first year that Jay contributed on a regular basis. He is now an 'AFL ordinary player'. Even on an average improvement path he is a valuable player as a third tall either back or forward. I think that Jay would probably improve more in a new environment and both Port and Adelaide are crying out for a strong, marking tall forward. He is out of contract and is a fair chance to end up back home.

He still has not been given a chance to settle in one position. I think he has performed consistently enough in 2008 to be given an extended run at CHF. Riewoldt is good lead up CHF but I like him closer to goal because he is creative and quick thinking.

Chuck Jay out to CHF to do the heavy lifting with White and Edwards in support. Jack, Mitch and Connors as deep forwards. If Jay doesn't cut it or Cleve can show he can get kicks at senior level he can be traded for 2010. Only 22 will still have trade value as a 70 game 23 year old tall next year.

I'm very disappointed in Kelvin.

Six years on the list and all he has to show for it is a measly 14 pages on his (merged) thread. What is wrong with this boy?

Pretty well agree with all of that.

Wallace's use & development of Schulz has been highly questionable IMO, he clearly doesn't know how best to use him.
Our coach really struggles with the notion of a big bodied key forward, probably because Sarge isn't a stick insect who can run.
The shuffling all over the park really seems to have effected his goal kicking. He used to be such a sweet kick but these days he kicks it like a defender. :-\

When Richo was up the ground for most of the year, Terry used Jay up forward no more than a couple of times but preferred him off the HBF in most games which had me baffled. Some say he is better in defence but I am still not convinced.

CHF is where he should be. Agree with that.
Hopefully if Terry actually plays him there, Jay can take some of recently acquired defensive knowledge up forward and turn it into defensive pressure.
It was bloody frustrating watching Terry use Morton & Riewoldt in the key forward posts whilst Jay was cruising on a HBF. :headscratch :headscratch

I won't be surprised to see him back in SA at all at years end. Reckon he's just about run his race at Richmond under Wallace.
Be interesting to see where he ends up & how he goes in '09 because I doubt it will be at Tigerland.

Quite simple really, in these days of PCness, no one wants to be seen as speaking badly of a ranga.

Good thread, this one. These two zingers left me with a smile...

I have to admit, I was in the "why the hell wasn't he delisted" camp too. How did we get it all wrong???

Because PREnders are not able to read the future (not for lack of trying). Despite all of the grand statements of who is a dud at RFC on this site, Moore's rise is akin to-

-Hughes kicking 60+ goals at FF next year.
-Raines or King making AA in the back pocket next year, or
-Pettifer coming back and kicking 40 from HFF in 14 games.

That news to me.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I have read the words: "We should delist <insert name of someone I don't like here>, he won't be part of our next Premiership."

The words are always written with an air of infallible authority, as if Moses himself came down from the mountain and told the poster personally.

all are possible

Hughes is a great converter - if the midfield can give him silver service he can kick 60.
Raines has been close to AA before, King was highly regarded by most through his first season and a half before he got injured
Pettifer is a proven goalkicker

Agreed 'super tw', hence people should not be so confident when calling a payer a dud or urging us to delist them.
