Because Dodoro is a goose, heard him on SEN earlier today & his explantion as to why the deal wasn't done was rediculous. Said they would't take pick 56 for him after the dockers had earlier offered pick 40. "We won't accept that offer" he said, so poor Bradley is left in limbo because of that sort of attitude.

That's hilarious.
Turn down 56 as if he has some value and then delist for nix.

Either Dodo is a dumbarse or he doesn't think much of the draft.

Actually the major problem with Bradley is he is immenseley homesick. He wants to go back to WA badly and not only that, his family desperately want him back. He was devestated Bombers couldn't deal with Freo. Freo tried to play hardball and get him for a 4th round pick knowing he was desperate to get home, Essendon stuck fast and insisted for third round pick. Deal fell over. (Not to mention essendon doing their usual trade shenanigans...ala breaking from negotiations for a lunch break 2 and half hours or so out from the draft deadline).

What would be different at any Melbourne based club about his form if he is that badly homesick, no point taking the risk. We need some mental toughness in our side, not more weakness. Easy to be seduced by his age and size consdiering our needs, no temptation for me. PASS.

Why pass on a fourth round pick when you are going to delist him.

Because it wasn't about logic, analytical thinking or taking second best. Essendon were playing their usual games at the trade table and Harvey is not one to tolerate that and knowing Essendon's style all too well instructed Shaw (who was present) to ensure no *smile* was taken. Negotiations broke down big time. They basically played chicken with each other and had a collision neither walked away from happy. Happens often, especially with Essendon / Dodoro.

I was interested this year to see if Essendon played the same games. That way we would have a fair indication if it was more Sheedy directed or Dodoro. I'm pretty satisfied to guess the source of it now.

Never seen him play so can't comment too much. If he is an ordinary kick then we don't need him we need more of the skilled players.

Diet beer is going to be pumped with these developments.

Mind boggling really, they don't even have to use pick 56 if the chose not to, plus it would have been one pick less that Freo had.

I thought if you traded for a pick you had to use it. Maybe they didn't want to be forced into using a fourth round pick.

I thought if you traded for a pick you had to use it. Maybe they didn't want to be forced into using a fourth round pick.

They changed that rule this year Bill to promote more movement between clubs and also to allay the AFLPA's push for free agency (IMO)
