Kevin Bartlett. You're Bad for the game!!!

Re: hands in the back

Get rid of the rule, and while we're at it, be a bit more lenient with the chopping of the arms rule. Many times there have been free kicks for chopping of the arms, when clearly there was no chopping of the arms. To me this is just as frustrating rule as the hands in the back. These two rules are ruining the game.

Re: hands in the back

I loathe the rule. See the thread as well about KB.

The BS free kicks when the player is not impeded in going for the mark is wrong & contradicts the spirit in which the game was meant to be played. It was quite interesting a few people around me & other I have spoken to that when you have a marking contest in the forwardline, its no longer waiting to see who will mark the ball but rather who will infringe & have a free kick awarded against them. The rule is taking over the game & I don't blame the umpires for enforcing it & in actual fact I hope they go nuts awarding ever little infrindgement to the point it is ridiculous.

As KB said he had 12 letters supporting it, and well over 600 against it ! Yeah its a great rule NOT being brought into our game by Anderson, Demtriou & media puppet Geischen. It is forcing our game to become a no contact sport & towards ruin.

With those agreeing the rule is great, I totally disagree with you all and no matter what justification is put forward to support the rule, no-one will convince me that a brush of a hand on the back or touch that sometimes even the player who has been infringed hasn't felt, is a free kick. If a player is impeded then award the free kick. If he is not then no free kick. Many soft free kicks have been awarded like that as well. Just crap !

And if people think this rule will be scrapped, think again. What better way for Demetriou & Co to flex their egos & dictatorship by forcing everyone to accept this against their will.

They need to realise its not about them & their crap egos, its about the game & this rule intrepretation is wrong!

Re: hands in the back

As some have said, the rule is fine in theory. In practice it's a disaster. Most players, coaches, fans and media don't like it, so how is it making the game better?

Free kicks are up by between 15-28% on any of the past five seasons.

I think the hands on the back rule (just tapping the forward, not smashing him) is ridiculous and makes it look like Gaelic football. And how many more times will head high bumps, that could cause enormous or even fatal damage, be declared unintentional? Rocca sent the young blokes' head at a right angle and he deserves his two weeks.

If we produced "Sack Andrew and Aidrian !" car stickers, do you reckon they'd sell well ? Hell, I'd pay for their production and give 'em away !

Id take one and wear it proudly. Add on whoever is in charge of AFL BROADCASTING scheduling and I would go halves.
