My coffee mug,a "Knighta " limited edition RFC mug has new meaning.
Should I drink from it or spit in it?

got the same mug, smasha. never been used, just sits up on the shelf, to be lovingly admired. today it has a black arm-band on it's handle (handle-band?).

ah well

the best i can wish knighta is this.....

may you forever be a runner-up to the mighty tiges in our long, long, future premiership run!

(love ya knighta, wish you'd chosen the yellow sash to coach, though)

Oh boy Kinghter, you've got a task ahead of you

ESSENDON'S decision to appoint Matthew Knights in preference to Damien Hardwick as coach for the next three years was in part swayed by the former Richmond captain's rosier assessment of the club's list and its short-term prospects.

Better hope free agency happens soon rather than later because you are talking about a list that got smashed by the wooden spooners in round 21 and whose best players are above 29 or just retired.

Why would Essendon risk one of their own doing a KB in 2yrs time when they are sacked.I doubt they would lose any sleep if knighter refuses to go back there when he,s sacked in 2yrs time.

From all reports Knights got the job over Hardwick becuase Hardwick told the board that the Bombers need to go down the rebuilding road while Knights thinks they can make finals. Shame on the Essendon board for appointing the bloke who told them what they wanted to hear.

Just shows how deluded that Essendon bunch are. They over rate their list more then we do.

True scoop.

But congratulations to Knighter.

Pity we couldnt keep him at tigerland in some capacity. We have spud to thank for that !

Very surprised decision and brave one at that.

But from all reports a popular decision from the players as he is well respected and is a developer of young men

Not according to this:

And he apparently told the Board that at least 6 players should be axed. According to SEN this morning Knights was better informed about the Aboriginal players and their needs than Hardwick.

Good posts.
This quote from Jackson is alarming: "At the end of the day, Matthew nailed where we're at, I thought,"

Who in their right mind would suggest a club CEO is the best arbiter of where a club sits.

So they appoint the candidate whose views most agree with those of the CEO - astounding.

Thats right, rest of the world is shocked but Hird said the essendon playing group were hardly surprised at all. As much as I hate the bombers, can't help but have a tiny (and it is tiny!!) soft spot for them now.
Except Lloyd said on the radio that the decision was a surprise, I know the guy's got shoe size bigger than his IQ, but still it's not great hearing that from the captain.

i was reading Caro's article in the Age today. She seemed to know all about it. Must have been on the panel.

For what ever reason Fatprick Smith is just nailing the Bombers over the Sheedy saga. Just great to see. Let's just see how many different viewpoints we have coming out of Windy Hill today.

1) Jackson is happy that Knights agrees with his views
2) Knights they may go backwards before they go forwards
3) The Velvet Sledgehammer thinks that Knights may be what is required to get them into the finals.

The biggest one is the board saying they want someone who has played in a flag at AFL level and coached a senior flag at some level, then the tell us the Matty Knights was the man for the job despite having neither of those things.

Good to see we are singing from the dame song book. They are nosediving at a rate of knots. Cannot wait to watch them self destruct.

Just a corker by the bushy bearded one, so good to see all the stuffups in print.

There will be some Red faces at Bomberland should the unthinkable happen down at catland. The cats lose the GF and Thompson gets the flick

thompson might walk away but he wont be getting the flick

mixed feelings about kinghta, good to see a richmond boy actually get an important job but now we have 1 less option of someone taking over from terry mid season next year

I've got the same mug too! Got it from someone as a Kris Kringle present at work years ago. Someone who knew of my love for the RFC

Kiss of death right there.

I can still remember Louganis in the Zanners press conference saying how a quality club would get him to raise it to another level- 12 months later Zantuck in the QAFL. :hihi

Bombers have to be a spoon chance 08

Let's call him Mr Jinx.

Looks like the Dreamtime game is ours already beevo.

I think Knoghts will do very well basedon the respect he has attracted in his stint so far in the VFL. But Essendon will be tough. Like the Tigers they have a distinct lack of players in a certain age bracket, an agein list, and not alot of youngsters proving themselves thus far. If he can make something out of Essendon within 3 years he will be a genius.
