Knobel Out For Two Months (Ch 10)

The Knobel story is on the AFL website, with Bowden's photo next to it.

The AFL must have outsourced some of its media department to India.

Knobel is not finished! He is still only 26!
You may be right there. We really have Knobel, Pattsion, Simmonds and Graham as our 4 ruckman. We cant afford to delist one of them. Trade ... Yeah Knobel can go in a trade

He is young but he is also injury prone... AK started to have injury worries, was out of contract and GONE.... not sure how they (RFC and al concerned) will go with this one

Yes, and seriously, who is in charge of picking the photos on the AFL and RFC websites... shocking, and here I was thinking only 1 or two clubs had problems with alleged certain substances... :P

Big mistake not elevating Angus Graham off the rookie list yeah might not be up to it yet but at least we would know & being over 200cms would give a contest & not upset our structure with Polak still being able to play center half back releasing Joel Bowden to create of half back. It would also mean game time for our to young ruckman Pattison & Gus!!! Look at the Bombers picked up Michael which released Fletcher but more importantly allows McPhee to play as an attacking flanker rather than CHB all about the structure.

Angus Graham would get absolutely smashed in the ruck playing for Richmond at the moment. The kid was not considered good/advanced enough to play for Coburg Seniors for most of last year (he made his senior debut in the 2nd last home and away game) and has now only played something like 4 senior games for Coburg. Let him develop at Coburg and don't throw him to the wolves by promoting him two years too early at Richmond. Opposition teams would exploit his weaknesses and it would not do his or the Senior Teams development any good.

In the deep end .
Get Gus on the list. Lets see what he has got.

Agree, what do we have to lose...another Ruckman!
He played in the preseason and thought he did ok at times, anyway i reckon through him in and see what comes.

Does anyone have Knobel's stats as a RFC player? And prior to that, as a Sainter?

Over his seven year career he has had averaged 5.8 disposals, 2.1 marks, 15.4 hitouts in 75 games

Since been at the Tigers he has 7.3 disposals, 2.5 marks, 16.2 hitouts in 21 games.

At the Saints he averaged 6.1 disposals, 2.4 marks, 17.1 hitouts in 41 games.

At the Lions he averaged 3.1 disposals, 0.9 marks, 8.8 hitouts in 13 games.

Well he is on an upwards curve

So wont be back until at least round 11 from my calculations
With our form of understating recovery times, I think you're right on the money there Black-And. he'll be right Round 11, 2008.

Knobel "underwent an arthroscopic operation on Tuesday evening to remove scar tissue from his left ankle."

I'm just going to assume that Knobel would be pretty handy for us ATM. ;D

So this is good news.

This was the issue- Did Knobel have a problem within the ankle (bone chips etc) that could be repaired surgically or did he have a degenerative condition (bone on bone) that would spell the end of his career?

It seems that they found something- scar tissue. If this fixes the problem we might be able to field a ruckman who can tap the ball our way in the second half of the season.

It's pretty hard to defend Knobel's value when he goes to the races every weekend but this much we all know- Cameron Cloke would be a very sorry boy if opposed to a fit Trent Knobel.

Races? I'm warming to Knobel now.

Too bad he doesn't go to the footy more often.Especially on the other side of the fence to me.

I'd warm to him more. ;D

He's a fine tip ruckman.

Hey, wouldn't it make you happier to see Cam Cloke cry? I guess not. He does that all the time.

I just hope this fixes his problem, we seem to take awhile to get some of our injuries right.

If he can't find form by season's end then imo its curtains !

Look some say Gus aint up to it and others say he is needed, really i think we have to promote him if we had a hall im sure he could play that second fiddle ruck work but as he's injured and not back for another month Gus will be needed more so to win the tap outs, around the ground he only has to match Knoble's poss count to match him and it wont be that hard to get ur hands on the footy 2 times a quarter.

I say this because at the moment patto is getting beaten in the tap outs so id rather have Gus and Polak changing and patto as another tall KPP running around the FWD line and giving terry's triangle more of a 3 pronged tall dimension.
