I started this thread using the last dregs of positivity and hope left in me for 2009.
But that'll do me.
What an insipid and disgraceful effort. This is not something that requires a calculated and measured response. It requires a simple acknowledgement that some things are acceptable in a competitive organisation and some things aren't. Wallace coaches us as though all that's required is a vision and a set of matching strategies. This is all fine if you are running a business, or a school, or a charitable organisation, or a church social committee. But we are in competition and in competition you are going to be measured (or at least you should be) on your ability and your determination to get the job done (win - contest by contest) no matter what.
Welcome to the dark end of Punt Road Hopper!
And that applies to players who may not have been our worst today but are clearly not producing to their potential. Deledio was as soft as it gets today. I've never seen such a quality player who so meekly allows a tag to completely blanket him. It makes me shudder that we hoped he'd be Hird like. He's that far away from James Hird he couldn't catch a plane to him. Simmonds can be included in that bracket too. At times today, he was bullied by Will bloody Minson and didn't fire a shot.
The performance of King, schulz, Edwards, and Tambling today was past deplorable. It should not be accepted. They should be sent to Coburg and told it will take 6 weeks to earn their place back - no matter what. Show you want it that bad or get out.
And somebody needs to be responsible for the fact they are playing and providing such little impact. That man is Wallace.
I've HATED all the kneejerk stuff about "sack the coach" around here - sometimes it seems that if somebody gets double parked that TW is to blame. But the buck must stop somewhere. I'm convinced now and apologise to craw and the gang for my deluded previous posts on the matter. My opinions were the best I could do at the time. Wallace must go. If it's now, mid season or end of season it doesn't matter. He's had a crack, and got it awfully wrong. Thanks for the service, Terry. There's the door.
I'm a darkside convert. Officially. The place is a mess. The only hope for the future is to learn. Learn from the performance provided by these players and by our coach (his staff included) when our season was on the line today. Learn from our awful mistakes in picking them. There should be no soft opportunities for the charletins of today to "earn" back a spot for the next month with some cheap kicks against Melbourne next week. Bring in Coughlan, JON, Connors and Collins and lets see if they are interested in grabbing a career by the goolies or if they'd like to go the way of the other dodos who currently besmirch the Tiges famous jumper.
I've had it.
