the claw said:of the sides in the 8 i think 6 will make up the 8 unless something terrible happens.the 2 sides who i think are vulnerable are the dogs due to long term injuries although ive pencilled them in for 12 wins and the other is fremantle who i can only see winning another 5 games max.this would leave them with 11 wins for the yr. so eleven wins may well be the bench mark for the 8. for mine i think pa will fill in 8th place and the tiges will win 10 games and finish somewhere thru 9 to 12. more than likely we will do our usual trick and just miss out on one of the gun picks in the draft.
as for a final 8 system i think it a disgrace that half the competition play finals especially when you think 2 or 3 sides ayr are getting a gig with barely a 50% win ratio.talk about rewarding mediocrity. the sooner we bring in a final 5 the better.
Couldn't agree more claw. The AFL wonder why the crowds are down in the first week of the finals; it is because they are devalued by having so many teams make the 8. A bit of lateral thinking is required. If it was a final 4 or 5, the performance of just making the finals would be more recognised and each final would be a huge game - not these half @rsed first round of finals that often barely draw 30,000 people.
A lot of football supporters are not even fussed about limping into the finals, and even the clubs/coaches themselves are recognising this. Mark Williams thought scraping into last years finals was actually a hinderance to the their next tilt at a flag.
