L&D Manager Appointed

"On February 14, 2004 I departed the AIS after 22 years as Head of the Sport PsychologyDepartment. I decided that the direction the AIS administration wanted to take the program was not one I agreed with, so I have moved on to other challenges. I have taken a position as a Director of Lane4 Management Group Australasia and will be taking the many things I have learned from my elite sport experiences to the corporate world. Lane4 Management Group UK Ltd began operations10 years ago under the leadership of Adrian Morehouse (one of the UK’s most well-known athleteshaving won two Olympic and several World Championship gold medals in swimming) and GrahamJones (international acclaimed sport psychologist originally based at Loughborough University). The company now employs 40 people and provides ongoing workshops, 1:1 coaching and resources to many global companies. The Australasian portfolio I am now involved with will expand the business inAustralia, New Zealand and South East Asia. At the moment I remain based in Canberra, but a move back to Victoria will occur in the next few months in order to establish our Lane4 Australasia head office in Melbourne. As I look back over the past 22 years at the AIS, I have many fond memories and value what I have learned from elite coaches, athletes and colleagues immensely. As I reflect on what I achieved at the AIS (and what I didn’t manage to achieve), I feel that I can move on with some pride and pass on the management of the program in the knowledge that the platform that remains is indeed a very strong one and acclaimed by both the Australian and international sport psychology communities. I wish the new manager, Michael Martin, and the remaining AIS sport psychologists all the very best for the future. The professional future for me looks very exciting, and I’m also going to enjoy my ‘sea change’. "

Re announcement (with or without spin) they're talking about a full time General Manager of Learning and Development. Not so much as a psychologist.
There have been part-time psychologists etc employed by clubs, but this goes a lot further than that.
AIS Head of Sport psychologist, Corporate training, Performance strategy support, Coaching education training and a Senior Account Director of a Management Group brings a bit more to the table than Rudi Webster

What is funny I actually read some individual on another forum who was questioning this guys CV. Based on nothing other than the fact that he was an appointment by the RFC......Just Un bloody believable. :-\

It just goes to show that no matter what the club does some will find fault regardless of the outcome.

oh im happy to get the bloke to richmond can only be a good thing. its jus that they announced it as some great new concept i dont believe it is. how about we cut out the spin on everything and let results speak for themselves.

lots of clubs have people doing what this bloke does they just dont have the roles rolled up into one job anyway all the best to him hes got his work cut out turning our long term hacks around.

Heard mr Bond interveiwed on sen earlyer and sound impresive. The glory boys said they thought richo would be his first appointment! Hopefully he will be able to turn around the careers of some of our unforfilled players :-\

What you think the RFC is the only club that puts "spin" on things claw? ::)

Its plainly more than a sports psychologist position so yes it is innovative for a football club. Why shouldn't they announce it as such.

So what your saying is he needs a sports shrink to play good football?

Not just a sports shrink. IMO Pettifers problem lies between his ears. There is no doubt he has huge talent, but he is his own worst enemy. Regularly beats himself up on field and his body language, although much more subtle, is worse than Richo's after one of his dummy spits.
If Bond can influence Pettifer I reckon Richo won't be winning the club goalkicking award in 2008.
