PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

An AFL team only has enough room for a limited amount of unskilled workhorses. Richmond has way too many:

-Daren Gaspar - valuable player but completely unskilled

-Matthew Richardson - lynch-pin of Richmond but wouldnt really call him a skilled player

-Ray Hall - tries hard but unskilled

-Chris Hyde - same as Ray Hall

-Kane Johnson - to a lesser extent, but still makes too many errors in his delivery/decision making

-Tivendale - absolutely no right foot - that is a skill error

-Chaffey - same as Ray Hall

....and I am sure they go on.

My personal view is that longer term, Wallace has to draft highly skilled players. Players that regularly turn over the ball (no matter how hard they try) will not win us a premiership. Comparing the skill level of Richmond on Sunday to that of the Bulldogs was comparing chalk and cheese. We could have had a million more possessions than them but their skill level was always going to mean that they would be able to kick more goals than us.
