I was thinking about the lack of key forwards in recent years...it was good to see key full fowards having a big role in games -love em or hate em...fraser gherig(forgive me,I,m too lazy to use caps),richo at times, fev before the blues went pear-shaped,and Jonathan brown a few times......milneys day out was something to watch,I dont like him much either, but he just couldnt do anything wrong if he tried, the day he kicked 11....
LLoydy?I can understand people disliking him.....I dont mind him ,but in my opinion,he did fall(pardon the pun)into the habit of staging for freebies.I seen a lot of bombers matches on telly, and it really did stand out.Such a shame...he,s a better player than that...
I reckon there was one big difference between the west coast eagles and a flag...(besides the swannies, good luck to em)That was Phillip Matera(or was it peter!)His form was amost faultless when the eagles were really up and running....anyway.....looking foward to other fellow prenders thoughts as always!Cheers!P.S.Ive probably mentioned it before, but pettifer is headed to be king of the clutch goals..he kicked quite a few this year.....

There used to be nothing better than going to the footy & watching the classic full forwards put on a show. More recently: Lockett, Dunstall, Ablett, Modra, Lloyd (still can't stand the poonce though). Go further back & we had: Roach, BT, Salmon, Jacko & all the way back to Huddo & McKenna. Made for a good day at the footy

And the great forward work of Rifleman Williams from Hawthorn you overlooked there Nitro. He loomed as the next big thing (well pint sized anyway ;D) with many bags of 5. Sure some clubs worked him over better than others, but he will only get better at handling that. Will take a good backman to stop him in 2006 if he comes up from his knee op!

thanks again pharace!Iwas trying to think of his name when i was doing the post!Got him confused with buddy franklin....yes,he was a real gun eh!Certainly made a few hawks games watchable! Now the pressure will be on him next year to see if he can follow through on that form... ;D

someone in the hole blocking his lead & this guy's game is all over! He will need plenty of help from Franklin etc to get him top have a big impact in future.

If Roughhead & Franklin develop into decent KPP's and they draft another KPP, William could easily play HFF.
He could become Hawthorns answer to Kayne Pettifer ;) :hihi

The same principle can apply to any ffwd. The key is movement and space, something Williams can accomplish if he works. Ffwd is all about work rate to begin with.

But the bigger FFWD's are able to use their body to at least attempt a contested mark - he can't.

I always remember that game in '93 Essendon vs Geelong when Ablett kicked 14 & Salmon kicked 10.
For the record the Cats lost. Now that was a shootout between FF's.
