give bowdo and tiv the decency of a farewell game so they can leave on a high... dont push them out the back door like so mny others.

If things keep going forward why should they be given a farewell game? This club floundered on sentimental garbage for too long. If they WANT a farewell game then they have to EARN the farewell game. NOBODY has a right unless they put up a FIGHT.

If their hear is in it they will fight for the spot....otherwise...shake their hands and say thank you!

Couldnt care less if we gave all 3 the arse.

In fact if we could get good picks for Bowden and Pathetifer all the better.

Classic forum debate here. Personally I think it shouldn't all be so polarised. I'm not sure that Richmond's main problem has been sentimentality over the years. I'm a great fan of Tivvers. He hasn't cheated us by playing his 150 games or so, he's served us well. He'd be an alright player in a good side. These guys spend their whole careers at the club and historically we shove it in their faces. No more politics, no more new coach trying to establish his dominance, no more ruthless pursuit for winning. Not so sure about Petts but Tivendale, Bowden, Kellaways, Rogers, Gaspar, Knights, even blokes like Chaffey played for so long for us and that shouldn't count for nothing. Would you give Richo a farewell game if he wasn't in form? Maybe you wouldn't, but I'd think you might give it more thought. We're not rewarding them for their qulaity but their loyalty and professionalism.

That said, you've gotta keep an eye on the eight and not get over-sentimental. One game at season's end is enough.

I really don't think that Bowden is gone. We know he's being groomed for a forward role, and I think he's being kept in cotton wool in the Burgs until one of the current players in the forward set up gets injured or hits poor form for a few weeks in a row. He's too good to be shuffled into the sunset. Petts and Tiv, I think their days might be numbered but not Bowden.

A message from the PRE President of J Bowden ;D

Not to have a go at what you are saying, coz i agree that Bowden is too good to be shuffled into the sunset, but i seem to recall a certain essendon coach being shuffled into the sunset (DISGRACE! >:() by that fridiot Dud Frawley - Never say never mate ;)

Um, I didn't say 'never' and Dudley is no longer there. Plus, I'm sure that the new admin and coaching staff took on board the backlash over Knighter's assassination. Don't think they'd be silly enough to do that again. Worst case scenario would be JB announcing his retirement but its highly unlikely he'll be 'Gaspared" or deKnighted. I just can't see it happening.

If the tigers are to get maximum benefit from this years draft a coupla so called name players will have to be offered up for trade so the tigers can trade up to better picks.

Time for being soft and sentimental not to mention extremely myopic has to stop. This years draft is going to be critical with the AFLs contrite hijacking of the draft in 09 and 10.

The tigers must make hard decisions ( and delisting Tivva and Hyde is not making hard decisions), some so called senior types must be seriously looked at for trading, whilst all mediocre performers and near enoughs with deficiencies that can be axed should be

This years draft will have serious impact on whether the Tigers start improving or remain amongst the wood ducks and also rans.

Tivendale's days are numbered. Too many players in his mould at the Tigers. Can't see Bowden leaving. He's turning 30 soon and don't see us getting a good trade for him. I don't see the point in throwing away his experience, he's got at least 2 more years in him. Pettifer I think what happens really depends on how players like Morton and Edwards evolve this year. I believe he is still good trade bait as he is nowhere near as bad as many here say. He has a weak defensive side and maybe a bit of attitude but can get the ball and has good skills.

Yup, I've said since the beginning of the year that this has to be the last year we keep the so so left overs from Frawley's era on the list. Time for Tivva and Hyde and probably Petts to go. Hyde has played OK the last couple of weeks but its time. And the 2 new sides have made this even more imperative.
