PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Out of Wallet and Eade, leave aside which one was the better and contemplate the predicament of poor Hawthorn.

In 2000 and something (don't focus on the year- it's not the issue) two experienced and valuable AFL coaches came on to the market. They were Terence Wallet and Rodney Eade.

Richmond, with first choice, chose Terry Wallace. Rightly or wrongly.

Footscray, or whatever they're called, chose Rodney Eade.

That left no coaches- no choices- zero (often considered a low number) available to Hawthorn. In the absence of any coaches Hawthorn chose legendary circus dwarf Alistair Clarkson to guide the imbeciles then cheating the pay mistress (oh, and still doing so) to waste the time of students of excellence across the globe.

To this day, Hawthorn barrackers, inexplicably, feel empowered by this turn of events. (Is there no measure of the depth of our admiration of them? Or our envy?) And who could blame them? It's like the miracle of picking up a sissy HFF at #5 in a National Draft.

Some Hawthorn fans may be praying that... what's his name again?... oh, yeah- Whatsisname coaches the Hawks for the next five years. Sure.

Anyone who knows a Hawks supporter is familiar with the (whatever his useless name is) syndrome. Going places fast, that chap.

Anyways, with a side full of champions, like Thomas Murphy, James Hird's talentless cousin (has he got a name? ...is it Clarkson?) and Clint Young (legend of the game)- is it any wonder that Sheedy, Malthouse, Wallet and Eade started a civil war to avoid coaching this conglomerate of time-wasters?
