Lekkas set to bring the Hawkers down to their knees (finacially)

I hope Lekkas screws the Hawks for all that he can get and that the mongrels go down the tube without merging.

It will free up a couple of players back into real footy clubs and see Geoff Kennett lead the way to two major stuff-ups.

This issue could quite easily be the Tigers mate......thats all...or any of 14 other clubs....

I remember the time there was very nearly NO TIGERS to support........
le t alone one player who may think hes bigger than the sport or the club bringing it down......
Keep on rockin mate.....cheers! ;D
yes i remember that and i bought a raffle ticket or two to keep you guys going and staying in the game!

and i agree it could happen to any club not just the hawks

LOL!

Hardly bringing the club to its knees financially.

The payment sought was never a multi-million dollar one as errantly suggested here NOR even a million dollar one as falsely reported in the media for the sake of a good headline.

Lekkas was ambit claiming for $150,000, which would be his entitlement under AFL rules that stipulate a player can receive 50% of his annual salary if forced to retire through an injury caused in the last year of his contract.

Given that Lekkas a) was playing games late in the season after the stroke AND b) is actively pursuing a soccer career then it is safe to say that his claim under this ruling is dubious to say the least.

It now appears that Lekkas is considering an offer of $15,000 + peripheral coaching duties at the club, which will hardly be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
not looking to play soccer , job was pulled when talks stalled, played with servere head aches when he returned to the game.15,000 was why the talks stalled from what paper said
