Lids - is he elite yet?

I'm hoping Lid's for us, is what Buckley is for the Magpies. Then hopefully we will have 21 very good players to back him up in the near future.

Most exiciting prospect at Punt Rd for 20 years.

If the RFC had the right personnel, on & off the field over that 20 year period SCOOP, we might have seen a few 'outstanding' players.  There was this fella who debuted in 1993, who's father also played for the Tigers.  He came on the seem and at his first match, supporters young & old from the tiger faithful flocked to see the 'son of bull' play his first game.  If any of you remember, he played like a teenager possesed by a passion, waiting to play for the Y&B.  The trait he displayed in his first game is still burning like a furnace today, but I sit here sipping my 'Johnny', I reminise, and say to myself, what if this fella had a top line coach to steer him in the right direction, to discipline his 'childish' attitude that has lingered for many years, but we'll never know.  If Richo can hold on for another 2 or maybe 3 seasons (pending injuries), I'm more than confident TW will 'fine tune' this gladiator of an AFL player, but time is running out.

If only SCOOP, if only................come here 'Johnny'.

I get your point GPB. I think that is partly why I am so excited over Lids. He may b extremely talented on the filed but more importantly I think for the first time in 20 years we have a savy group of mentors and coaches in place to help stop the problems that occured with Richo, god bless him. Problems isn't the right word, if someone had pulled Richo up early and just had a quiet word in his ear maybe GPB you would have been singing TIgerland with Johnny a few more times.

one thing no one has mentioned as yet , is that terry looked after him this year and gave him plenty of bench time. this i belive was crucial to his development as he didn't run out of legs at the end of the season. if you take his game time into account you will find he would have been in the first 5 or 6 most effective players for richmond for the time spent on the ground . having brought this issue up i hope that terry continues to bring lids on carefuly . i would prefer that lids reaches that elite status in a suitable time frame that will ensure that he has a long injury free career.

lids for brownlow in 2009!!!!
