With approx 2-3 years left in the big Lug the time frame will alllow the Likes of Patto & Hughes to develop.
By the time Richo hangs up the boots i can possibly see the following senerio on who will fill his shoes.
1st bounce to 20 min mark of each qtr
Simmonds-Ruck
Lids-R/Rover
Patto-CHF
Hughes-F/Fwd

20 min-end of qtr
Simmonds-Bench
Patto-Ruck
Hughes-CHF
Lids-F/Fwd.

Lids at F/FWD would be a hard match up.

I Await a thank you note from TW ;D

I'd love to see Lids in the forward line this season. Not necessarily at FF but if he developed into a Hird type(early career) I'd like to see that!

I'm with ToO there, don't see Lids tied down to one position, he's a similar build to Hird and I think there were some who feted him as the new James Hird early on last season.

He is bigger than Hird and quicker - he has the skills, pace and decision making to hold down a key position in addition to the midfield. I think he will be a "pinch hitter", completely disrupting the game plans of other teams trying to get a match -up!

This may well be true in the future but not yet. He has got the speed no doubt but his size is still developing and he's unlikely to have the motor yet to play for sustained periods on the ball. That's why I'd like to see him on a HFF with occassional bursts on the ball. He's got a great grab, a good eye for a goal and would make our forward line a damn sight more potent than it is currently in countless ways.
But Cutterest, the guy's clearly a freak and in a season or two you may well be right. If indeed he does end up better than Hirdy(a long way to go yet just quietly) then Tiger supporters have a lot of excitement ahead of them. I hope your right.

Life goes on.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the ways of our wives.

Life after the Richo? NEVER!!!!
Actually, it will be when the players up the ground finally learn to kick to a lead and hit them on the chest. Would love to see the big fella jump the fence from the stands and run on to the ground and tell them off.'Why couldn't you clowns do that 5 years ago?" ;D

richo has minimum 4 years left on him. my 2009 flag prediction will see richo off into retirement

you still need to answer in relation to the topic above...obviously you're going to find it difficult letting go to "richo"...take my advice...start getting used to it.

I have to agree with you skills , people need to realise that our success will be AFTER Richo's era , our next flag wining team will not include the likes of Richo , Gas , Stafford , Kellaway ... .. the reason is simple its called retirement !
Its a shame Richo couldnt have started his playing group a decade later , imagine a raw talented Richo along with this group of youngsters just waiting to explode.

Well, you never know.

In '67 a group of boys got together to give Paddy Guinane a place in a premiership team before he retired. Who says our boys can't do the same for Richo?
