PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

I know we have a lot of these posts already but I thought this deserved its own thread.

Terry Wallace has stated that he will look to turn over 6 players and with this draft coming being the strongest one in a while he will want to free up some room for draft picks.

Apart from draft picks there's no doubt TW will want to go after at least one if not two key defenders, potentially an on-baller, and could go after another ruckman if the price is right, has said he is not keen but GM has stated otherwise.

A team can have 42 on their list, thats including veterans and rookies

We had 41, less Chaff and Staf = 39

We will likely need to lose at least another 4 potentially another 6

4 more would allow for up to7 new players to arrive at the club though draft/psd/trade

6 more would allow up to 9 new players

The tiges are currently paying under their salary cap level so can afford to recruit another player making the list 42

So with Chaff and Staf gone who are the other likely's to go, and at what price:

I think certain delistings are
- Humm, not needed
- Moore, hasn't shown enough, delisted

Potential delistings
- Jackson, hasn't grasped his chances, but is still young and has raw talent so may be given a chance. IMO he could still be value at Tigerland. Could also be offered as trade bait and could attract a bit of interest
- Limbach, outsider, likely to be given a chance
- McGuane, outsider, likely to be given a chance
- Roach, chance, likely to be traded or rookie listed instead of delisted
- Gaspar, old with injury problems IMO the tiges will hold on to him if they can't trade him
- Kellaway, outside chance but needed too much in an undersized backline

Potential trades
- Rodan, would likely have been delisted if it wasn't for contract. Geelong or a struggling club could be interested in exchange for a 3rd-4th round pick. Tiges may have to take whatever is offered
- Tivendale, TW is a fan so may keep him. I just can never see Tivvers playing in a premiership team. Probably worth about a 3rd pick
- Hall, likely to stay but does represent value being a tall
- Hartigan, word has is Essendon is keen. Definately has ability but we have a number of players in a similiar mould, Raines, Newman etc. Maybe he would be worth more to the club if traded.
- Knobel, will likely stay, but could walk in the no.1 ruck spot at a number of other clubs. Could be traded for first round pick, or for ready made defender. We would then need to recruit a ruckmen however
- Krakouer, likely to stay, but will attract some interest. Worth at least a 2nd round pick in my opinion

I think TW may be tempted to bundle players in exchange for good picks, to benefit fully from quality of this draft. ie

Rodan & Tivendale for 2nd round pick

Now that we have made space what will we go for?

- Draft picks, should be able to secure someone like a Riewoldt or Selwood(or is he too small?) with pick 7 or 8. Maybe someone better. I believe we should go for best available player. Should be able to secure a cpl of KPP's and good midfielders, maybe another young ruck

- Trades for at least one KPD like a Polak, Perry, Egan, Miller. Potentially two

- May look at trading Knobes, which will mean we will have to go after another ruckmen, this is unlikely to happen

- Potentially another on baller, maybe a James Kelly type

Defence is definitely the main issue at Tigerland but whilst our midfield is still developing i still think we could benefit from another ready made onballer

This is just what i think? do others agree/disagree?
