Lloyd Ponders Life After AFL

Essendon captain Matthew Lloyd says that his enforced time on the sidelines has left him pondering a new career within the next few years.

“I’ve been watching with interest the post-AFL careers of Darren Bennett and Ben Graham in the NFL,” he says. “However, gridiron doesn’t really interest me. Those helmets mess up my hair and all that padding makes my bum look big.”

Lloyd says that players like Saverio Rocco are more suited to punting in the NFL than him. “Sav’s got really bad hair and a big bum anyway, so there’s little downside for him.”

The Essendon spearhead says he was inspired by the Socceroos loss to Italy on Monday morning. “I was really excited when I saw Italian full-forward Francesco Totti dive for that free and then calmly slot through the winning goal from a set shot,” he says. “I’m really good at set shots. I’m even better at diving for free kicks.”

With a number of Socceroos pondering retirement after the shattering loss, Lloyd thinks he could slot into the Australian team quickly. “The team’s going to be needing some leadership, which is my forté. (Hey, that’s an Italian word!) Throughout my AFL career I’ve served under some great leaders, and since becoming captain my team is looking to be number one come draft time this year.”

Certainly got all the attributes, well one of them any way. There was an article yesterday just mentioning how the Socceroos can't milk a free..
Nice work TBH. :hihi

Great work TBH.

His wife is Lisa Caparello. Does that automatically qualify him for Italy?

Tony that's so well written I thought it was another journo article when I moved it. Actually I didn't read it before moving it sorry. Will move back to the footy board. Sorry. :-[

I'm offended that you don't consider this journalism, Rosy. This sits confortably alongside the finest contributions of Mike Sheahan.

The Australian Institute of Sport could use a diving coach. Perhaps even the English cricketers can use his squealing talents this year when they get creamed.

Football will be better off without him.

Lloydy was on 3LO last night. He said Essendon are better than an 11-1 l(oss ratio side). They should have defeated Richmond only for a slight lapse. Better update that to better than a 12-1 side now Lloydy. :hihi

They were getting stuck up Lloydy. Apparently someone rang WLF to mention his increased muscle and bulk and at the same time the 3 others on the show all noticed Mr Muscles checking out his muscles on the monitor and forgetting all about the program he was supposed to be doing. :rofl
