Long Range Outlook - Season 2008

could hardly get a softer draw yet will be lucky to scrape together half a dozen wins. if this is the case we will tank and win only 4.
tankking wont help though miller will interfere and we will draft two hacks with picks 1 and 2.

yes you are right. i should have said trade picks 1 and 2 away for duds like usually tries to do.

Ok, let's put a bit of justification (or should that be rationalisation?) behind my predicted results:

Rd Opponent Result Reason
1 Carlton Win Because they'll be tanking for Naitanui (or however you spell it)
2 Roos Win No Archer will make a big difference to the team, spiritually speaking.
3 Pies Win One of the few teams we match up rather well against. No Buckley, no Clement, no hope.
4 Freo Win We're so freakin' due to beat these guys in WA, it's just not funny anymore.
<snip>

Win 14
Loss 8
Points 56

So yeah, that's being optimistic, and to be honest I think we'll struggle again in the last 5 or 6 games given the relative youth of our list, but hey, there's a chance this could be a fun season.

Nice work Bidders, made for a fun read :)

Gotta say I think the term 'optimistic' is being a bit... ummm... optimistic but well done none-the-less :fing32

My dear girl Walace has 2 years to run end of story or are we going to do what Richmond does best WELL THAT HAS WORKED HASNT IT ?

Have you heard Walls talk about his sacking? He agrees now it was the right thing to do because he lacked the motivation and the determination to get the job done by the end of his stay at Richmond. If Wallace oversees a club that is racking up 3 figure losses, destroying morale, and killing any motivation our kids have to not be traded to greener pastures, the board is negligent if they do not at the very least review his position.

Ideally I want him to serve out the 5 years, but if we cross a point of no return, where his staying is damaging the club, the tough decisions need to be made. Even typing with caps lock on cannot ignore the reality that sometimes you have the wrong man for the wrong job and the best thing to do is to move on.

Having said this, I think this is the worst case scenario, and even if we finish with 4 wins or less, as long as we improve our competitiveness I am happy to see Wally stay till 09.

Based on March's comments this is the least that will happen if we don't make significant improvements this year.

Craig Cameron's appointment now creates a new interesting tussle down at the RFC.

Craig, now in the early part of his tenure, will probably be looking to make adjustments to the list with a long term view to enhance his credibility, eg, finishing in a position that will deliver both WA junior boys.

However, Wallace is in the back half of his contract and will be looking for the team to perform such that we may miss out on either one or both.

Makes for an interesting sub-plot.

Taking this on face value then Wallace would be doing the right thing.

If people think Naitanui is the second-coming they need to take a much closer look.

This is like shooting fish in a pond. Just a pointless exercise coming of a year with 3.5 wins. You have no historical strength behind your predicted wins. Nice try though.

14 wins puts us in 4th or 5th spot. Geez that's hilarious. :cutelaugh

Like in 2004 and 2005.......oh wait.
bar 2004 every yr since 2002 he has traded an early pick downtraded one or attempted to trade them.its well documented look it up for yourself. so much for recognising a poor list and so much for rebuilding with earlyish picks. in fact so much for useing many picks at all in some drafts. and so much for utilising lots of picks regularly deep into drafts.miller doesnt understand the word build.once again people go off half cocked and defend miller why i will never understand. the list is so poor in 2008 for a reason or in millers case reasons.

The sooner they get rid of him claw the better !

Sure but thats not what you originally said. And the McMahon deal was Wallace's work not Miller's

Oh come on. Look they haven't done absolutely all they could in terms of getting earlyish picks, but from 2004 onwards they have quite obviously recognised that the list needed to be turned over and that it needed to be done mainly through the draft. If you think anything else you're blinded by your hatred.

The list is in far better shape for the long term than it was in 2004. Could it be better, yes. But thats more down to poor picks due to the lack of recruiting staff which in turn was due to the clubs finances in 2004 and 2005, not because we haven't utilised the draft.

Red Sea (14) and Yinmar (12) should meet somewhere in the middle, play some Jamie Redfern records and dream of little white clouds that cry. :o

Thought I'd dig this out again. If we beat Melbourne I reckon I got nearest the pin back in March. 8)

:clap

More than I expected - though a loss against melbourne could see us at 11th - which was a bout right I thought. Ninth - as Claw says - overperformed! :hihi

I was wrapt that this topic kept coming back to me during the year which clearly meant we were, at least, winning games. The Missus nowhere near chuckled as much whenever I came home after a game this season, so that was a plus too.

I ended up with estimating 14 wins, and I console myself in adding in my own mind the draw against the doggies and the shoulda been win against the 'Aints, plus a win in Rd 22 to have us at 13 (spiritual) wins for 2008.

Easy to look for the positives when you try hard enough.

It cracks me up though that the actual wins and loss predictions were specifically almost arse about for most of the year :hihi :hihi ::)
