If the Tigers lose on Sunday against the Dees we will all have deep suspicions that the club has not progressed after 4 years of Wallace - we will still be a cellar dwellar with little light shining in from the far end of the tunnel.

If we win on Sunday against the Dees - it will be so what we beat the easybeats of the competition!

If we thrash them by 10 goals or more we might be able to say hey there is some kind of a future!

Strewth what a feeling going into the weekend of footy - I can remember back in my teenage years (I'm over 50 now) that I would go into the weekend of footy plotting results so the Tigers would consolidate there place on top of the ladder or in 2nd place on the ladder.

People tell me the wheel always turns - this is either a very slow wheel or a very big one which is taking its time to move...................

Gee the days of following every single game, desperate for some teams to win and others to lose, all based on how it would influence our ladder position seems soooooooooo long ago. It takes a whole lot of interest out of footy season when the results of other games barely raises discussion around the dinner table now. :'(

FFS = It's 1 game out of 22.

I would rather them play attacking footy and lose by 35 points, than play *smile* ''tempo' footy and win by 25 points.

Heh, perhaps they might even lose, but as long as they had a dip, I dont care.........too much.

It's the long term view Im after

Melbourne aren't that bad!!!!!

I must go out and buy a good set of long distance/term binoculars...........because I have heard that said a lot over the last 2 decades.........

given the history of our club in this era there is absolutely no way we will beat Melbourne this weekend. We are incapable of winnng this kind of game where there is any kind of background psycological pressure (ie pressure that we should beat this lesser opponent and what it would imply if we dont). We dont win 'something at stake games'. When was the last time we did? A game that might get us in the 8 or would represent true progress, etc ec. Its sad to admit it, but our club is mentally weak - and its a trend that seems to have survived 2-3 different admins, coaches, player generations.

I feel conflicted. On the one hand you always want to win but on the other a loss will be a step towards an extra pick in the draft and at the front end of it. ???

Crap....win and win well Tiges to signal we are on the improve.
We won against the Bombers in a match we were expected to win and we will win 2morrow to set up a mid season surge.

Long term view....I just want to see what happens at 7.00pm Sunday......I have given up on long terms views since 1983.

Melbourne may not be that bad BUT we are that good!

And when we have a chance eradicate that weakness we always fall back to it. How great it was to see kids running hard and running free. Bring back Bowden, Pettifer, Hyde, Tivendale and it all goes downhill. We thrive on sentimental garbage because nobody at Punt Road has the balls to end careers after the bleeding hearts complained about Gaspar and the Kellaways. As long as we hold onto the past we are going to be a nowhere team
