How does he only get 7 years? He should not get out. I do understand though that child sex offenders do not get it easy in jail so lets hope he has a particularly difficult time.
Unfortunately not the same anymore Jazz. Protective, Hilton style accommodation is the standard for this type of criminal these days. Wasn't always the case though.
Late in his life, Chopper Reid admitted to one unsolved murder that happened in custody. A notorious child raping murderer was deliberately placed in his wing. Chopper inferred that the order came from very high up the chain of command of prison management, that this particular individual was not to make it out of the division alive. Suffice to say, no one noticed a cell door being closed - and remaining closed for quite a few minutes - when Chopper and his gang needed enough privacy to pin the bloke to the floor and take turns jumping off the top bunk, landing feet first on the guy's head, until his head was mush against the concrete floor, over several minutes.
What we have to remember. This was an era (1970s) when the senior hierarchy of prison management were administrators who had run prisons while the death penalty still existed. They didn't agree with legislators and judiciary abolishing the death penalty for certain crimes. So took it upon themselves to covertly ensure this form of justice was still served in instances where they felt it justified.
