Did he mention what his direction will be next year? Will he continue his tv work with ch10 (I personally think he's one of the better special comments guys around at the moment). He would also make a good coach IMO (he's very articulate).

He was really good on the Fox teams show last year. Hope he goes into TV.

Agree Disco.
Darcy was great with the special comments.
Think you will find he will ne snapped up by one of the telecasters.presents well on tv & knows what he's talking about.

It's a shame for him, but I just watched the press conf and he seems comfortable and doing it for the right reasons.

Would think he'll be highly sought after for a media gig, if not an asst coach job. Really like his media work - one of the few players or ex-players who can string a sentence together. Take note Watson, Ox and Olarenshaw!

Think it's good he's playing out the year. The dogs need every big body they can get out there at the moment. He'll play mostly FF I'd reckon.

Wonder what the dogs would give for a tall forward option like *smile* for 08? It's a famous name at Whitten Oval!

Hope he continues his tv work...he's very easy on the eye :P

I made a mistake apparently he retired because he lost interest. Injury had nothing to do with it.

how can you lose interest after being out of it for 2 years?

i reckon if he was able to be playing good footy he'd keep going

Injury cruelled player whose body will not allow him to play the modern style.

Missed 2 seasons with 2 recos and was always behind the 8 ball.

Good effort to have one last crack but at least he knows he is no longer able to do what is required.

Good on him, good player and all the best to him.

He's lost interest & the Doggies have probably lost interest also

Shame for him he was a very good player.

Hopefully Cogs doesn't face similar difficulties.

My thoughts exactly.

I remember Schwartz of Melbourne and Francou of Port Adelaide coming back from dual reconstructions, but were merely shadows of the players that they once were.
Also young Michael West of Qld/Bulldogs has struggled.

Conversely, Michael Wilson of Port Adelaide, seems to have recovered well from dual reconstructions.

"Spose that gives Cogs a less than 50% chance.
Hopefully he can make it.

REMEMBER MARC DRAGICEVIC?

if he was a young player they would of dropped him after round 5 but he has too much respect down their and they gave him every chance to get back to some decent footy

i guess he just couldnt do it

He still has a few rounds to survive.

great player

great guy

left when he knew it was time

:clap

As for his career now....

In: Darcy

Out: The Slow and Ignorant OX!!

If i remember correctly he kicked our butts on his first or one of his first games back this year. Knowledgeable and likeable guy - will make a media career - there arent many other later day players that have communication skills to ge their point across like he does let alone the dinosaurs that have plagued the media for way too long.

I dont want to rain on the Darcy parade but I honestly think whilst he was a good player he was over-rated. Like many players he had a good period of 3/4 seasons (ie 2001-2004) but before and after that was either developing (1995 - 1999 and people forget he took a long time to develop in the shadow of Scott Wynd) or injured (2005-2007) or getting over injury.

Same could be said for the other retiree, Kouta. Everyone raves about him circa 1999-2000-2001 (and he was very good) but what about 1993-1998 and 2002 - 2007?
