These 2 players have been delisted by Port. I know Phanto doesnt rate Gilham (but you like his younger (or older?) brother at Port Melbourne) but whats the word on Luke Peel. I "googled" his name and got some hits and the most interesting was from the North Adelaide website where the fans absolutely bagged him. Comments like "no-one has a greater opinion of Luke Peel than Luke Peel" I tohught that was a beauty. What were you recollections of Peel Phanto (and other under 18 watchers)? BTW Gilham is another that'd be worth a late ND or PSD or Rookie choice.

My feelings about Luke Peel are straight forward.

He chose not to play little TAC in 2003, and instead played his private schoolboy footy.

Port Adelaide chose to draft him on his schoolboy reputation.

They are learning the same lesson that we are learning with Roach & Jackson, which is to forget the schoolboy reputation, the best criteria for selection is playing & performing on a weekly basis at the highest competitive level. TAC, or the interstate like, and the U18 rep carnival.

Mind you, Roach, after his schoolboy season had ended, did play 2 very good games for the Chargers in rounds 12 & 15.

(Greg should remember me heatedly discussing this with him, via e-mail, back in 2003.)

I for one are glad Jacko didnt play TAC because he would not have lasted to pick 53 if he had most scouts ive spoke with say he would have gone 1st round if he had.I also cant beleave any of the negative posts towards Jacko he is a kid who started footy later then most, turns 20 next season, learned plenty for Coburg this year and has had a taste of senior footy and done quite well, plus great physique to be an outstanding AFL footballer I think Jackos selection will prove to be a bargain
