Simple, he took a softer option than going for another senior coaching position. In other words, he knew he was done being a coach.
Got it, every coach who doesn't go and get another senior gig is "soft".

You don't know what other coaching gigs he went for. Was Wayne Campbell soft for taking the umpires coaching gig after being an assistant clack at RFC and WB?

Greischen showed his true colours when he chose managing the umpires over a real coaching job.

Which team was the real coaching job with. We didn't give him the option.

Yes but he got better.

Yep. Hardwick would have pruned the list really hard saying it was full of hacks and the bomber committee thought otherwise. Knighter felt the list was okay but just needed to add more talent.

I reckon Matty was probably correct but he never had the support of Lloyd or Lucas who along with some back room staff actively undermined Knighter from day 1.

When did Dimma lose his ability to identify hacks?

In the Geelong game yesterday, the TV cameras often cut to the coach's box where assistant coach Matty Knights was sitting alongside Chris Scott.

The Cats are right up at the pointy end of the ladder and playing top footy. Be nice to think that Matty was playing a small part in that, particularly in his role as midfield coach.

At least he will be well aware of the players and structures required to be part of a winning team. Don't think anyone currently at Tigerland knows... Watch those Cats go deep in the finals this year.

They will go all the way this year Claw. Topped up beautifully in the off season!

Probably no more relieved bloke in the history of our game than Matthew Knights that he wasn't part of the Essendon rabble post 2010....

Same could be said of Hardwick sitting next to Clarkson in 2008. Was apparently one of the architects of the Hawthorn game plan. Look where that's got us.

Says who?

I have never heard that said nor do I believe it, Hardwick tries to copy game plans not create them.

Not sure whether Hardwick is a copy merchant, but I recall Clarkson saying he was far more controlling back in 2008, that it took years to delegate properly and was part of the reason he had the stoush with Kennett. Hardwick was not the architect according to Clarkson

History would suggest one was right in their assessment and one was wrong. Or that if Knights was right then he wasn't a very good coach.....

Unlike dimma who is a genius, and has wasted the best core of players this club has had in 35 years, with the most support a coach has had at this club since the Hafey days , and dare I say he has had more support than hafey from above?

Just get him. No process needed (have no faith in our administration to make the right call), just call him and tell him the job is his come rd 15. Watching Geelongs midfield is what exciting enjoyable football is about.

We would end up hating him too.
And i wouldn't want that because he is favourite Richmond player.

Gale and knighter were good mates. Why not rekindle their mates hip again
And turf Hardwick in mini skip

Getting Knighter would good and his assist ? You are talking no Choko Lade maybe Newman with bluey mc but preferr Dimma at this stage let him finish his contract I'm sure we will see a different Richmond next year

Hey Pervian why didn't we see a good Richmond this year?

He had seven months to prepare and has dished up this crap.

After seven years I wouldn't trust him with the Bunyip Blues u12's.
