He is not the closest tagger not the strongest tackler, agreed.
But he is a very important run and carry player who can break the lines.
Today's game againts the Hawks was further proof of how valuable this skill is.
And further, given our three tall backs of choice - Thursfield, McGuane and Moore - are average kicks, his ability to hit a target out of the backline has been critical to many of our wins this year.
The Macmahon critics (skinny flanker, pick 19, etc etc) are painting themeselves into a big dark corner if they stick to the negative view on this trade.
