PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

After playing soccer for most of my life and seeing Browny and now Newmo break their legs, I wonder whether making shin guards compulsory is an option? They have been compulsory in soccer at every level for a long time now due to the amount of broken tibia & fibula bones in the sport and of course the way soccer is played. There are some AFL players wearing them now but only a small percentage. I understand there aren't too many actual broken legs in footy (apart from at the RFC :-\) but as they say, prevention is better than cure.

They're not hard to get used to wearing IMO and Newmo definately (and possibly Browny) would not have this injury as we speak.

Thoughts???
