Coach in the making?
hope we have a spot for him in the coaches box when he retires.

I thought JR was our best football brain, and he nominated Sheds as our best football IQ so, yeah, youde think he'll coach at some stage.

Brisbane were sooooo close to taking sheds in his draft. What a sliding door

I also binge watched it over 2 nights.
Simply brilliantly made series.
Nothing against GWS or Coniglio, but for a Sydney component they should of gone Dane Rampe or Josh Kennedy at the Swans.

I know quite a few people (and I agree) that thought Peggy's comments about the functions and how she couldn't care if she didn't host another dinner and we don't make money on functions anyway, were very disingenuous. A lot of people pour serious dough into the club and those functions are part of their package. The club mightn't make money on the actual function, but they do on the coterie membership packages and that comment is disrespectful. Especially when you consider that in 2020 people paid lots of money last year and didn't receive their benefits.
I also thought the snippets of the Board meetings were somewhat underwhelming, IMO they totally overplayed the Chol situation and I think it was obvious that both the players and coach didn't think anything of it and the Board over played the PC card, which they have a tendency to do.
That’s a valid point and I’m surprised that it was aired as I agree , the value accrued from high end supporters would far exceed any $ the club would gross which lends itself to ongoing perpetual support so short sighted if that’s the sentiment . Perhaps give benefit of the doubt with editing and not understanding full context of the comment

Mine too. Malcolm Speed strikes me as someone who doesn't quite get the culture of the club. Very concerned about the optics and over playing some things imo whereas Benny and Peggy see these things as important too but are also very practical.
Very perceptive re Speed. I've met him a few times and been on the same table at President lunches/dinners a couple of times. I can tell you that a number of years ago he wanted to get rid of Dusty, because he "didn't think him suitable for our club". Thank God he never became Prez and the sooner his tenure is up the better IMO.

Watched the last episode.

Forget the new grandstand at Punt Road. Priority should be building the statue of Dimma.

Going to watch episode 7 tonight.

Eddie Betts has well and truly stolen the show. Lovely guy.

Leon Cameron comes across as a total knob. They are really playing up the isolation of Stephen Coniglio. It seems tlike the only support he has is from Heath Shaw and Callan Ward. Nik Nat and Adam Simpson both come across as arrogant and full of themselves. Stewie Dew is a good bloke.
Agreed . Was surprised at how high Nik Nat rated himself always has seemed to come across extremely humble .

id nearly bet the Suns will have more sustainted success then the Giants in the next half dozen years , fair chance this will be Cameron’s last year at GWS and zero chance he gets another Gig , reckon they’ll offer Leppa a very nice offer.

Was talk we were after Kelly, wonder if we would still go hard if the midf cubs continue to improve ? Window is open at the drive through and yes will have fries with that

watched the GF bit of the amazon doco.

a few tears and a few observations.

I know they edit to create a story,

But its conspicuous how much Scott and Dimma are both focussed on Richmond

Scott: 'Broads and Houli sore, Vlastuin gone'. 'They are shitting themselves around the ball'. 'Lets do them slowly' :rotfl1

I don't know if Dimma makes any reference to Geelong publicly?

How stunned was our panel when Scott entered their box? We need to station Mate Colina on the door this year. We dont want Hinkley thinking he can take such liberties.

that 14 min grand final bit on the AFL website is great

i agree, we seem to really focus on us, what we can control, rather than the oppo.

yeah thats what I watched. Incredible perspective.

It also brought home how, despite all the professionalism and cliche,

they live it just like we do.

They *smile* themselves, they dont know what's going on at times ('whose that down over there?'), they say stupid things, they live in deluded hope, they experience the pure joy

Before Todd Menengola kicked his last quarter goal, Scott actually said “If he kicks this, we’ll win.”

They‘d kicked one goal since halfway through through the 2nd quarter, but now they were going to kick four in 10mins without answer.

Yeah, that was quite weird. It seemed that he wasn't able to read the game at all. Or he had reached the point he was in denial about what was happening.

Yeah, but what are you going to do? Behind in a Grand Final, 10, maybe 15, minutes to go, you are down but kicking for goal. The only way to win is going to be to feed off that goal and see if you can make up the deficit. You have to believe, otherwise you don't need the other side to win, you will lose all on your own.

Scott would have been trying to give his players belief at 3/4 time and maybe clutching at straws when Menengola is kicking for goal. I would have been trying to push the same buttons if I was in that situation.

It was just acute optimism.

which is often a nice way to experience delusion.

I didn't mind it. A good leader can't be pessimistic, or even realistic
