Whats wrong with you lot.

Yeah, good call. If Murphy was at Richmond and after 2yrs didnt perform like Chris judd, many on here would be happy to call him a dud and wish to trade him!!

You all love Murphy so much?

Here are some nice stats.

Tivendale wins more contested possessions than Murph. Tackles more. More clearances per game. More first use to the ball. Runs more. More hard ball. 0.6 higher error rate. More long kicks. More contested marks. More 1%ers. More inside 50s.

One is a champion the other is a dud of the highest degree.

Not saying Tiv is better or anything... it's just amazing how one player is clearly better than the other at this point in time yet that same player is regarded one of the biggest duds in the AFL and the other is one of the brightest emerging stars.

One is in his second year of football, the other has somehow played 200 odd games.

The point is Tivendale was more helpful to his team than Murphy was last year.

In hindsight the entire footy world would still pick Murphy last year though. Not talking TIv up just saying 2 things:

Murph isn't as great as he's made out to be yet,

and Tivendale isn't as bad as we all make him out to be. That's all really :)

It's not fair on Tivendale to compare Murphy. I'm not a huge Tivendale fan but I acknowledge that he was our second best mid last season.

Murphy will lap him in the next year or two.

Murphy is not like players on our current list. He's all football. Not one of these new-fangled 6'3" basketball/high-jumpers who'd flunk Auskick 101.

Old-fashioned. Maybe we should target a couple like him. We knocked back Higgins in 2005. Let's focus on ball winning ability and smarts.

Poor Gibbs packed himself on two occasions during the 50 minutes of the game I was watching. Completely shirked it. Felt sorry for him.

Marc Murphy's ball use was sublime at times. Let's see how he goes in the season proper. 2yb?

Thank you very much Benny. Good to see someone finally put things in perspective.

Ok fair enough...but lets see what Murphy is like at the same age...Tivendale wasnt even playing AFL at Murphy's age.

Another good point... This thread is becoming a bit of a joke. I'll bet you won't see a Brett Deledio thread on any Blues boards. Maybe we should start a Joel Selwood thread too?

How old is Tivendale?
And how old is Murphy?
I dont think there would be anyone who would take tiv over Murphy

You're about the 10th person to misinterpret the intention of my post.... must be my mistake for not being clear. Sorry.

While I said Murphy will be better my one and only point was that we are drooling over somebody who in reality performed worse than someone we describe as the biggest dud in the AFL.

That means 2 things:

- Tivendale is better than we think.

- Murphy isn't worth the amount of drool you lot are spilling in this thread. Yes, future gun, but he's not even better than Tivendale YET. So stop drooling.

I dont mind a debate here or their but this on murphy is becoming a tad over the top, lets close it here good luck to him and im sure he'll be a good player for ther blues....Im guessing if we weren't playing carlton in RD 1 it would be a non issue.
